I know several guys on here have these gloves and I was wondering how well they have held up over the year? Also how do these gloves fit in comparison to the Ringers Extrication gloves? I appreciate the help.

Mine have seen several fires and a few extrications since I've had them, and they've held up fine. In my opinion, they are better than Ringers extrication gloves regarding fit/comfort.

How do they fit size wise compared to the Ringers gloves? I wear an XL fire glove but an XXL Ringers gloves so I am unsure as to what size to order.

They were the hottest thing for the students at my academy. Now, I am evaluating a pair to make recommendations for staff and future purchases.
The little time I got to use them, they seemed ok, but lacked coverage on over the rist area. (I got the short model)

I have only had mine for about a month so I can't speak to durability. I have been to a few structure fires, car fires, etc. The dexterity is amazing, they feel like extrication gloves. I purchased the long cuff and feel the cover very well. My only complaint w/ the long cuff is the strap around the wristlet, I think the would have been better with a cuff similar to standard leather gloves than with this tiughtening strap, it is just a pain in the butt. If I didnt think it would void the NFPAness of them I would cut the strap off.

I have a pair of the pro-tech 8s with the long wristlets... no tightening straps.

They typically run small so if in doubt order a size larger. Where are you going to purchase them from?

The jacket you wear dictates the style you should buy. I have Morning pride and have the wristlets, which is actually just a thin piece of fabric that loops through my thumb and forefinger. I also wear a set of globe which has a much thicker piece of fabric as a wristlet. In the Globe its a pain in the arse to wear the wristlet with the glove as you lose all the dexterity cause of the thickness of the material, so what I do is just bypass the wristlet. I would never wear another glove by choice.

I would think that he's not really scared of the NFPA but if an injury were to occur with non-compliant gloves the department may not stand behind the injury ..

We got them, we're in the initiation phase. Try them out for a while and decide if they should be our standard issue gloves.
I like them, a lot of dexterity, not overly bulky, can operate tools well with them on. My only complaint is when you take them off wet, sometimes the liner in the pinky finger follows your finger out (usually twisted). Makes it a pain in the butt to put back on.
Other than that, great new gloves.

Okay, I broke down and got a pair. They are great! So much better than the mickey mouse gloves we have issued to us in the FDNY.
Does anyone know how to launder these? I already got mine caked with some disgusting stuff and they are becoming very stiff. This isn't because of the gloves but rather the s**t that was sprayed all over me.

Thank you for the vote of confidence!
My PT8's have held up well so far. I have had them for right at one year and have been happy so far. We conducted a large scale RIT drill last workday and it was nice to have some gloves that you can actually work in.
Stay safe!

ive had them since july, they are amazing, very comfortable and lightweight. I second nyc truckie's question, whats the best way to clean them?

I just cleaned mine the same way as I clean my gear, wash with cold water, on the gentle cycle, and air dry, or put them on a glove dryer.

I bought a pair a few months ago. They do run about one size smaller than most fire gloves. Pros= They are comfortable and the dexterity is awesome. Cons= Steam will get you pretty good through the back of these gloves and the durability is awful. My pair are currently in the bed of my truck with three or four dime size holes in the plam leather on each glove. I used them for approximatly 1 light extrication class, 2-3 interior attacks, and 10-15 assorted light duty calls before they were scrapped. If you use them for a rope rescue class or something I think they will definitely make it easier.

Just heard that Protech is coming out with a new model called the Titan. Hopefully they will improve some of the issues with the 8s. I'm a fan but still are nervous using them in a fire and go back to my Shelbys

Jason, send me yours if your afraid to wear them. Look at your shelby's and take a good look at whats there and whats not. The regular gloves get through NFPA by putting air between the leather and the vapor barrier. As for the guy who has his in the trunk of his car, what did you do with them? Mine I ONLY use for fires. I use regular work gloves for everything else.

After 8 mos, 1 worker, 2 burn classes, numerous MVA's and incipients, I still love mine! They do seem to run a hair small, though. And I throw them in the extractor with the rest of my gear.

Yeah, I gotta agree on the size issue. I always go smaller than what people tell me, seeing how they usually tend to be wrong. But the Medium size is a bit small on me. I would actually go up a size if to do it again.
But whatever, they are working great now.

Just got word that after the first of the year the new Titans will be available. They have heavier palm protection and a different cuff design. I plan to get them as soon as I can and post info.

Forgot to mention- I usually wear large sized gloves, but go smaller due to stretching, water exposure, etc.
I got the mediums and have been pretty happy ever since.

This info could not be posted at a better time. I was all set to order Ringers to have a set of extrication gloves. No one really seems to be recommending Ringers. My structure gloves are fine for fires. I just want something for strictly wreck work.

I have had a pair for a year now and they hold up just fine for me. However like Jonnyrons I only use them for fire's and thats it I have a pair of extraction gloves for extraction. I think those are shelby's and I like those just fine too. I am excited to see the new titians and can't wait to get a pair.
