Yeah, GW's performance may have been lackluster at best from time to time. However, if you really want to muck-up the USA beyond repair put Chillary in office.

What crystal ball do you possess that would lead you to that conclusion?

The last time a Clinton was in office we had prosperity the likes of which had never been seen during peace time. A budget that was balanced and hasn't made us vulnerable to the financial hegemony of less than friendly nations.

If that is your idea of mucking things up, count me in.

When she pushes the National Healthcare system through, you see how the quality of life improves.

It can't be any worse than the current health care system that is insurance driven.

Our present system is great until you get sick. After you get dropped, one cannot get re-insured. Thereby ensuring an individual is more than likely wiped out.

Do you really want to open the door on the looks of female politicos or royals in the UK?

I'm going to enjoy reading these boards in about a year. By then Hillary will have been elected and we'll be watching conservatives melt down.

Yeah, our healthcare system is sooo bad. Read up on the wonders of national healthcare in Europe.....

I've met billy and his mother. He is a great little kid that was left to die in "progressive" western Europe with their "superior" system. It might be expensive, but it is far better than the alternative.

I never said their system was better. You make the assumption that any system adopted here will mirror the worst aspects of the health care systems in other countries.

This was a very public case and received alot of attention. If there was a local solution, believe me they would have done it. Now they are a joke in the eyes of the world for their reprehensible treatment of this boy and god knows how many others that suffered from this same affliction. We are talking about the healthcare system in Europe. Billy's mother could have gone anywhere in Europe for treatment for her son. "National Healthcare" would have footed the bill - airfare, food, lodging, treatment, transportation - everything. There was one little problem. There was nowhere in Europe for her to go to get treatment for her son. We are not talking about some super exotic African hemoragic virus. It's epilepsy. A severe form perhaps, but just epilepsy. And their medical advice was to let him die - and their "treatments" were accelerating the process. You're damn right their system is not better. Bottom line, there is no better system in existance than ours. If you have some miracle plan that is going to radically improve the most progressive and advanced medical system of any nation - well lets hear it.

I'd rather have a witch doctor work on me than some european socialist check casher anyday. At least the witch doctor believes in his cause.

Our system works if you can get insurance. Otherwise you are on your own with a witch doctor being about your only option.

You're screwed without insurance?

Sorry , but I'm one of the many without it, and I'm getting along just fine. With a little bit of HARD WORK, and using payment plans, I still regularly see my dentist, physician, etc.

Half the problem with people complaining about lack of healthcare is because they won't get off their ass and put in an honest mans 8 hour work day.

Since I've been here, in the US, and this is experience talking, insurance is one thing. But having the CORRECT insurance is another. Due to our military service, we are all enrolled in Tricare. Seems they are great for a lot of things, like attending visits to the local VA hospitals or base establishments, you are pretty much screwed.

I had a relativley minor vehicle incident in April, but there was some soft tissue damage to my neck and throat due to the seat belt. After the CT, blood work and a few other nic-nacs were completed the bill came to $3600.00. Fortunately the insurance from the other driver paid the bills, because I very quickly got a letter back from Tricare saying "Tee Hee Oooppsss. We don't pay for those services." They didnt even pay for the attending physician services. Not sure about a lot of you folks, but I didn't have a "spare $3600.00 in cash" laying around.

Moral of the Story: Make sure you know your insurance policy and know what it will or will not cover.

Although pre-planning like Rescue343 does is also a good thing. :)

Judging from what I've seen of how the welfare system can be played,I'm not all that anxious to see government paid healthcare.
The Dems better hope more people become millionaires so the system can be paid for.

One system that seems pretty good from friends I have spoken to is Australia. As far as I can gather, its a combination govt health care and private insurance. I think people have the right to buy extra insurance coverage to up the quality or choice of care they receive. This is only second hand info so maybe some of our down under friends can comment.
I do think that bankrupting an entire family for illness reasons is completely unacceptable.
