This is a perfect example of why we need training.
I've worked at my job for about a year and a half and coming into the job I wasn't real impresed with the training that I recieved on the fire end of the job. today I just learned about some hose houses on the roof of the building and a couple stand pipes and their locations. Now I know that it takes a long time to learn everything in a place this size and I don't expect to ever know it all, but I've been on the roof with people a couple times and a whole lot by myself doing fire stand by's and I had no idea about these resources. You think that before you send someone on a fire stand by for the first time that you would make sure that they would know things like this. Had something gone wrong, it could make things a lot easier and safer than trying to fight a fire with hose lines coming through the roof from a lower floor. So off I go climbing ladders to take a look.
