Well, the day has arrived. OK, it was actually a few days ago LOL. I've just been too busy to do anything about it!
I must say, it has been quite the experience to have been considered a part of the worldwide firefighting community over the past 6 years. To be accepted so totally and unconditionally means so much to me. :o
I've made many friends from far and wide (and even met some of you in person!), shed tears, laughed with you (and sometime AT you ;) ), shared your heartaches and joys, waited with my heart in my throat when hearing of missing firefighters and commiserated with you when your Brothers and Sisters have made the Ultimate Sacrifice.
I have even experienced for myself the benefits and support of being a part of the IACOJ family and the "Brotherhood", even though I'm not a firefighter, when I went into the hospital for gallbladder surgery in 2003. I'm honored beyond words to have been involved with IACOJ since its inception. We've been through thick and thin together.
I've ooh'd and aah'd over the pictures of your newborn baby or your new puppy, you've cheered when I won tickets for me and 15 of my friends to U2, I've cried when you and your wife lost your unborn child, you patted me on the back for my weight loss successes, I've congratulated you on the birth of your grandchild ... ... ...
HEY KEEP THOSE GOOD VIBES COMING, I'VE QUALIFIED FOUR TIMES TO WIN A TRIP TO LONDON, ENGLAND TO SEE THE LED ZEPPELIN REUNION CONCERT!!!!
I wish Jon (FDNYRR/RoadRunner) was here to share this occasion, as he was responsible for introducing me to Firehouse.com after I "met" him in Fire Command and Chat shortly after September 11th and he took me under his wing.
I'll NEVER FORGET you, Jon. Rest peacefully, my friend. :( :(
There have been times when I've come close to giving up on FH, yet here I am.
Thank you all for letting me be a part of your lives. :)
As always, STAY SAFE!!!!
