Our area was rocked by news this weekend when a woman was found deceased along a rural road in Centralia. The woman was the 34 year old wife of a Centralia Firefighter and authorities are investigating the death as a homicide. WJBD Radio News Story (http://67.43.112.36/news_view.asp?WEBID=10449)

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Centralia Fire Department and the Cavelleto family.

This is something that just doesn't happen around here. I guess that makes it a greater tragedy than it would be in a crime ridden area. Keep the Cavaletto family and the CFD in your prayers as they all recover. We certainly will.

Such a terrible tragedy. Many prayers to the Cavaletto family and CFD.

Mrs. Cavaletto was also a first grade teacher in the Centralia school district. I don't know how you can explain this to a classroom full of six-year-olds.

Let's hope they've found the right guy, and taken a monster off the streets.

Let's hope they've found the right guy, and taken a monster off the streets.

Josh, I've spoken to several people fairly close to the situation and they all said the investigators are pretty confident they've got the right guy. The visitation is this late afternoon and will be a very sad occassion. Our thoughts and prayers are with you John and Rob.:(

A fund has been established at US Bank for the two children of Michele Cavaletto who lost her life on October 20, 2007. Michele was the wife of Firefighter John Cavaletto and the sister of Lt. Robert (Robbie) Smith of the Centralia Fire Department.
For those wishing to donate to the children of Michele Cavaletto may do so at any US Bank location. The account's name is under John D. Cavaletto. If the donor should prefer donations may also be mailed to US Bank attention Gayla Harting 201 North Elm, Centralia Illinois 62801. Thank you for your prayers and support of our brothers Centralia Firefighters Local 618.

Thoughts and prayers for the family and the Centralia FD family. I believe we have some guys going up there to cover for CFD while at the funeral.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Cavaletto family.

They did get the right guy, he basically confessed. The prosecuting attorney says he will most likely seek the death penalty. And yes, we have a few guys going to cover Centralia during the funeral tomorrow.

Do they need any more help covering the firehouses tomorrow?
