How does your department keep track of airpacks. Does each truck have SCBA's assigned to the truck itself or to a particular seat? What about cylinders?
We have 48 SCBA all purchased at once so they are all exactly the same.

The harness assembly, including the regulator, is numbered with a department ID and assigned to a specific vehicle.
Each cylinder is assigned a dept. ID but are not assigned to a specific harness or vehicle.
Each facepiece is assigned a dept. ID and issued to individual firefighters after fit testing.

Just assign a number to each bottle, and each pack goes into the same truck it came off of. Seat really shouldn't matter. Also, when doing rig checks, you can note which bottle is in which pack. That way if you have specific problems with a bottle it can be tracked..same with packs.

We have our cylinders numbered to keep track of them. We have 96 cylinders for which their is a mix of fiberglass wound and carbon.
Our packs are numbered for the particular apparatus for which they are carried on.
The cylinders and packs do not have the same numbers.

When we bought the cylinders there was an option to have them labeled and numbered. It's under the clear coating. The air packs have designated spots in the truck. It's up to the operator of the truck to make sure everything has been put back.

We mark our packs on the back plate. E5-1, E5-2, E5-3, etc. It not only keeps packs from finding their way onto another engine or truck, but it also makes documenting daily SCBA inspection easier. The serial numbers and corresponding "pack number" is recorded in the station's log book, as well as in the inventory log in our SCBA repair shop.

Every unit is numbered. Every tank is numbered.
A unit number is assigned to a truck and tracked to that truck.
Every bottle has its data with it's corresponding number (test date, etc) marked on a huge chalk board thats gridded.
It's nicely organized.

Same here. We use E1-A, E1-B, etc. Driver pack is A, Officer B, Officer side jump C, Driver side jumpseat is D.

Our's is like Gunny's, just different positions...
Officer's pack is E-6A
Jumpseat behind officer E-6B
Jumpseat behind driver E-6C
Driver E6-D
Pack assigned to the seating position allows for accountability...

All our packs, bottles, and masks are numbered. Masks are assigned to FF's.
Packs are numbered 1 through 5 for each riding position and is color coded for each vehicle. (5 man engines) Each SCBA has a tag. On that tag is the last person who used it, and who checked it.
For example, blue is for Engine 1. If there is a blue #2 on the SCBA pack, that is the officer SCBA for Engine 1. It works for us because we only have 25 SCBA packs and 3 engines and one heavy rescue. The other five are spread out to a tanker, support truck and brush truck. That may not work in a large department.

Our cylinders and harness are numbered. Every Wednesday we check our packs and record which packs are with what cylinders. All of it is tracked on a computerized system to keep track of hydro dates, etc.
