Opinion on next year AFG project

Looking at project for next year. We have a truck with cascade system and lights. The body was originally on a 1987 Ford chassis which was trashed out. We purchased the truck for the body and cascade system. We put the body on a 1989 International 4 door chassis with 107,000 miles on it. This truck cost us nearly nothing.
My question is, would I have a chance getting a grant to put a new chassis under this body. This truck runs automatic aid structure fires with 4 other departments in the area and mutual aid for much of the rest of the county. It will run approx. 40 to 50 structure fires per year.
Our other trucks are: 1989 Mack Tanker, 2000 Engine, 1991 Engine, 1974 military conversion brush truck, 1979 Engine, 1976 Utility Truck, We also have a 1974 Dodge truck which is not in service. All of the other trucks are in good shape with less than 60,000 miles on each. This is the only possible need for a truck in our opinion. Our budget is about 35,000 per year which includes 13,000 per year in truck payments.

Based on the vehicle description only, IMHO there would be no chance to replace the chassis. You describe a light/air vehicle which under the PG is a priority 2 for rural & urban and a priority 3 for suburban classifications. Priority 1's are the only ones being funded (way too many requests to be filled).

What is wrong with the IH chassis. No that many miles (or years) for a diesel chassis. Would have better chance with app for something like a type 5 forestry/wildland unit (that also has room/capacity for a cascade system, generator, light tower).

The chassis was a City of Atlanta road department truck. Alot of wear in the steering, oil leaks, Fuel injection pump needs rebuilding, air compressor on brake system blowing by oil, transmission shifting rough. Engine undesized. This is really the only piece of equipment not in excellent shape. We did not try for a truck this time. Just hate to pass on any possible opportunity for additional funding.

Ranburne as pointed out above it does not matter what poor shape it is in, if it is not a priority 1 vehicle, it won't happen buddy!;)

Thanks I thought it would probably be a long shot at best. Just wanted some opinions.

That does not mean you can't get a chassis from the feds. There is still FEPP and GSA surplus. Possible with some work to get a decent low mile diesel automatic mid size truck.
