We are celebrating our 2006 award of $61,947 for turnouts, gear washer, and pagers. I hope this round made up for Round 6 for some.
Just a note - we are out of the 2007 competition since our project was so close to our 2006, they gave us the other parts and pieces in the '06 award. More money for the rest of you!!!
Stay safe.

Still in a holding patern on my 06 afg award. All paperwork is in just waiting for some news. I can't imagine there is much money left for 06 supp but hope to hear soon. Did you get an email from afg or was the first you heard of the award from you congressman? I contacted our congressman and he said he finds out the awards for the state the wed before award. He said he would call... waiting with phone in hand ;). Well nice job on your award.

Quite a few vehicles, but mine still not announced.
Several at $237500. Must be a cap of some sort.

Is there any pattern from the 10? to grant notifaction or is it just random?

It is a $250,000 grant minus the $12,500 local share.

I am happy to say that our department was awarded a vehicle acquisition grant of $261,250.00 in Round 7. We are surprised and very appreciative for this award. It could not have come at a better time. We are replacing a 30 year old pumper.
Thank you to ALL who helped make this possible and thank you to Uncle Sam!

I believe there is still money in 2006. I received an e-mail that started the ball rolling with a reduction request on bunker coats. Then another that modified my PPE quantities to my 2007 amount (+6 sets). Not wanting to be to pushy, I asked if since they were giving me the PPE number I requested in 2007, did it mean my gear washer was out? Next thing I knew - another e-mail throwing in the gear washer. If they were able to do that for me, it tells me money is still there and needs to be awarded quickly. Thanks for the kudos and good luck to you!!!

I am sorry NEIOWA. I misunderstood what you were saying. I can only speak for my department and I believe you have seen me post it numerous times, but here it is again. 3000 gallon tanker, tandem axle, 750 gpm pump and that was worth $250000. I went back through my app, which I thought I specified the crew cab, but it is not in there. I must have pulled it out to keep my cost down. I wonder if they would have reduced us as much if I would have specified the crew cab? Or maybe not funded it at all!! I am happy to say that our tanker is ordered and we are expecting delivery next July.:D Thank you to all for the very informative posts, and especially to Kurt Bradley who I will definitely be buying a drink for when I am at the seminar in Johnstown, PA this December.

You know this is the real killer. You have the money in your hands, you get the specs out, you get the bids and award them and then you are told you will have you truck in 11 months. You are glad to be getting it but dang it is hard to wait for it when you are really hurting...

No kidding!!! We open bids on our this Wed. afternoon. Most of the manufacturers are giving us a 300 day build time!!!! I guess it will be worth the wait!

We got the same kind of estimates on our '05 grant (pumper/tanker). Ended up being delayed over 2 months! First projection was early September. It ended up being Thanksgiving weekend.
They did time it out right (that day, at least), though. We caught a fire while the guys delivering were still there. They had just gotten back from topping off the fuel. Filled it up with water and sent it on it's way to provide tanker support. We ran 9 fires in 7 days after that, counting mutual aid responses.

I agree. But you know that time will go fast. Our neighboring department was supposed to take delivery last month and their tanker was not even on the assembly line yet. Problem is that they ordered an ALF an got caught in the change-over to the new facility. I heard this is one area ALF is pushing to improve. When I looked at their government contracts, they were quoting a 230 day turn-around on this tanker. Would be nice to have our tanker in time for the Harrisburg Fire Expo. At least we know the order is made and the money is there for us.:D Anyone that was at the seminar in Alum Bank last January knows how bad we needed this tanker. Stay safe all!!
