I apologize, but i couldn't find any helpful threads on this topic. Does anyone have any good reviews, tips, or knowledge with Alpine Software: Red Alert. Cause I got to bring some information to my fire house, that is finally coming into the new millennium about computers and databasing...lol

Any links or comments would be helpful. I've been to the website and I'm very impressed so far. I remember using the software when I was with my previous fire company. But I know it's been upgraded since then...duh. :) Thanks for the help.

We are currently using red alert software. We recently came into the new millenium as well as the previous program we were using was DOS based. The Y2K thing played hell on it and we had to upgrade. So far there havent been any issues that I have heard of with the software. The inventory capabilities are a nice addition to what we had. It also seems pretty easy to get the calls entered and saves us the hassle of entering the call and then filling out the NFIRS report.

If you don't mind me asking. How much did you all pay for it. I got done talking to one of the reps. They said it would be close to $5000 or better for what we need.

I dont remember off hand but I do know it was not 5k. I think we got the lite version (not the full version). We managed to pick and chose what we wanted as opposed to what they said we needed.

We just purchased it here. Like Lewiston, we were using a DOS based program that was written in-house almost 20 years ago. Nobody, including out IT people, could maintain it after the original developer retired. It also wouldn't run well on WinXP. We will be installing the Red Alert shortly and running it over our network to outside stations and the training facility and shop. We bought almost all the modules. Cost around $90K. That included customization, programs, installation, training and everything else.
