Hey everyone,
I saw a job posting for Raytheon in Tucson, AZ. I was wondering if anyone had any information on there fire department. What I really want to know is how big Raytheon is and how many people they employ in Tucson.
Thanks,
Kev

I've worked for Raytheon for 30 years Its a huge company. We used to have a fire brigade in some of our Massachusetts facilities. I think they were eliminated in 1995

How is the department? What is the work load there? I can't imagine that there is a whole lot of firefighting activity to do there, so is there other busy work that they make you do all day long?

I actually interviewed with Raytheon (Plant 44) about a year ago. They paid for my flight out of CA, hotel, car and all food. Interview was roughly 1 hour and very informal. Basically the Chief just told me what I would be doing and the day to day activities. Basically if you get the interview they are planning to hire you. Previous experience in fire is everything. The run down is they do lots of training, run about 400 calls a year and work 24 hour shifts (XOXOXOOOO) and probation is 4 months. There new station is probably done now. The man a type 1 engine with 4 and I think a squad with 2. They also have a haz mat which is cross manned. If I remember it right, they were hiring for a second engine company. I believe they do alot of wild land stuff as well. They offered me around $44,000, but I chose to stay with my current department.
Stay safe.
