I had my interview on Friday. If you prepare for it (Cpt. Bob, etc.) there will be no surprises. Be humble, don't stumble and you'll do fine.

Not sure how they grade/make the cut - I have read in previous threads about 1st oral being pass/fail. There were 257 candidates invited to the first round of interviews, with drill school set to start in January.

Does anyone have any insight - is the 2nd interview similar to the first?

The second interview is a 'chiefs interview.' This will be with a chief officer, and from what I've been told about chiefs orals (from my Chief), they are trying to figure out what kind of person you are. They want to know you have a good character and will be a good fit for their department. As my Chief said, "they can train anyone to put fires out - they can't train you to be a good person."

I heard the letters are going out this week. Per the exit information, we will be receiving a letter telling us whether or not we will be advancing.

So, I'm anticipating a letter regardless.

I live in washington....i got it today but i wasnt able to check my mail for a few days so it might havent gotten here earlier

I still haven't gotten mine. Per the exit information at the first interview we were supposed to get a letter telling us whether we're moving forward or not. I haven't gotten anything. I live in WA too, so am holding out for mail tommorrow, but am ready to take the poison early.

Too bad, I felt I prepared very well (private coaching, endless rehearsal, taping, personalization) and thought I nailed it based on my stories and the reactions of the board. Funny thing is I even got a random call from someone within the department last week, and the person told me to call as soon as I got the letter, that they had some "important news" for me. Weird. Time to regroup, take stock of my preparation, and rally. I'll be back. Good luck to all. Great department.

I would call, if you haven't already. Like I said I got mine a week ago so yours could have gotten lost in the mail. You never know

Yep - I'll call on Monday. I sent an email to the recruitment inbox, but am waiting on a reply.

The exit interview said we would be getting a letter regardless. Normally I would assume I just didn't make the cut, but this situation seems "off".

Has anyone gotten a letter tellling them they're NOT getting a second interview???
