When is the Gary IN Fire Department going to hire again?

Not for a long time. And when they do, don't even wast your time. I work there now and we have all kinds of problems. We get some fires and we have some good guys on the job, but the city has lots of money problems.

I'll be applying if I am still in the hunt at the time. I have a buddy that left gary to come back to detroit and had a lot of great stories to tell. Well have to see

The city just approved the budget for 08 and the fire Dept was approved for 10 new Fire Fighters in 2008.

is there a testing process soon or do they already have a pool established?

They had a list but I think it expired. If I hear anything I will post it on here.

The rumor is GFD will be accepting application around February or March. I will post more when it s official.

Gary Fire Dept. is now issuing applications.

You can pick up applications Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm
January 28, 2008 to February 20, 2008 at the Gary Fire Civil Service Commission office located at 401 Broadway Gary IN. 46402 (room B6 lower level)

Heres the kicker the add says you have to be a resident of Gary for 2 years prior to applying. Don't know if they can do that. One could challenge this I think.
