OK I can see everyone ringing their hands, pulling out their hair, biting their fingernails down to the quicks and drinking themselves into blubberring masses of humanity so I thought I would do a little nerd work today since our resident nerd ( bc79er) has been busy playing building contractor. Alright you number crunchers and freaks, here we go with some comparisons to 2006 AFG thrown in for good measure.

First off for all you vehicle applicants that are still on hold:

Only 151 vehicles have been awarded so far for $24,954,048. In 2006 they awarded 693 vehicles, so that means there are still about roughly 575 vehicles to be awarded for another approx. $95 million dollars this year. Believe it or not the vehicle awards were actually spaced out pretty evenly across the first 10 rounds of 2006 AFG with 577 being given away through round 10; it slowed down pretty much after that but, vehicles were awarded in every round of the 24 rounds in 2006. So, quit worrying so much and sit back and enjoy the ride folks. A long way to go and many more rounds filled with "sirens and bright lights" ahead of us.

For the rest of you:

There has been 860 awards so far which is almost identical to where we were last year by round 3. In 2006 there were a total of 4763 awards given out in 24 rounds. Right now they are averaging about 275 awrads per round and that was pretty close to what they did last year so at that rate there shoud be about 17 more rounds left. That would take us out to about the first week of December.

Dear Johns:

In 2006 the first round of DJs ( for those that were thrown out by computer) came out between round 4 and round 5. on November 14, so look for the non-competitive DJs to land sometime on about August 22, if they hold true to form.

OK so that should answer a lot of questions for a lot of people. I will update this from time to time and others can do so at any time as they see fit. Good luck to all of those still waiting but, keep the faith!;)

 Wait a minute Kurt......are you trying to just run Brian off?;)

Brian usually provides the stats, but, I guess he's a little busy with demo of the house and family time......Thanks

Earl, If it makes you feel better, then just think of what it does for the rest of of us. We still have a glimmer of hope. At least I have been able to cut back on the zantac and the prozac a little. Now I just have to worry about this SAFER addiction that has started, then it will be the fire prevention, oh well I guess I better just stick with the meds.

bc79er still remains the "supreme statistician", I just decided to give him a break from it so he can get his house done and put his focus back on what he earns a living at! I would not get comfortable with Kurt supplying stats.;)

JUst think Kurt, if we could combine you and Brian, we would all have already been funded in these first three rounds, and we could just take it easy for a couple of months. But I enjoy picking both of your brains and the knowledge that you have given has worked great and made a huge difference in what my departments have and what they can do. I appreciate everything you all have done.

That means I still have a week or two to worry about that DJ. But it does give me a glimmer of hope. If no award this year will have a better chance next year because WE WILL BE HOSTING KURT. If you go to one of his seminars it has to up your chances.

So is the new marketing slogan....

Kurt's seminar upped my chances, he can up yours too!! :D

Sorry, i just couldn't resist. Seriously, the education and insight that come out of there have paid for about 25 years worth of equipment for our department based on our normal expendable income--kind of hard to argue with the results.

Does make a good slogan. I may have missed my calling. If it gets people to show up then it is a damned good one.

Not to use a quote from Dumber and Dumber, but what you're saying is that I have a chance. :D

Looks like there's still a long ways to go.

Oh Lord, yes Catch22! Anyone who did not get a DJ on Thursday is still a longway from being out of it. Think positive thoughts and even if you do get the dreaded DJ it will probably occur in time for you to plan on swinging over to Aledo, TX or up to Nashville, TN to get in one of those seminars.;)
