I'm completing my application and the fed/applicantshare is not computing the way I understood it would...the applicant share as calculated for year one by the application process is closer to 30% than 10%...when I got approval it was for the 10%...am I doing something wrong?

There is a limit to how much they will fund every year. If your pay and benefit costs exceed the limit you have to make up for it yourself.

correct, there is a yearly cap per employee that they grant to you, the way I understand this is for benenfits and all associated costs with that employee.
not an expert, but read a good bit of info

Ok so what about the volunteer recruitment/retention plan? It states that the volunteer share is 0% but do you still have to ask for less from the federal share each year? Does the awardee have to increase their share every year?

No, you can ask for whatever you can justify for up to a 4 year period.

Listen to whatever k3twpfire tells you, he is the SAFER guru god, we have all picked his brain a couple of times.

The limit this year is a little over $105K per FF.
