Received an e-mail at 5:45 PM EDT tonight with the questions. Immediately, I started celebrating and running around the house like an idiot calling everybody I could to tell them we had GOTTEN THE GRANT!! This was not my first success, but the last was 2004, so it has been a while.
As I began to answer the questions, however, I re-read the e-mail from DHS and noticed it was for my 2006 Application!! Well now the celebration got louder as we still have a shot at 2007!!!
If anyone else got the "semi-Dear John" in 2006 - check your e-mail!!!
Good luck to all.

I just faxed off our questions for a 2006 afg grant that I received last friday. Man did I have a tough time getting the fair market value for our station ans property. We asked for a vehicle exhaust system and a 6000 psi breathing air compressor and fill station. I wonder when the anouncments will be

We got the q"s on July 3rd for '06 vehicle supplemental and sent them back. Just checked on them and they said they never received the e-mail reply back. So after waiting almost a month, I just resent them the answers yesterday. You may want to follow up to see if they recieve your answers.

That right there is why I always advise clients to send responses through their regular email and also a copy thorugh their online apllication mail system as well.;)

I too am going nuts just waiting. Having got an AFG in 2004, the award reference no. is on my 1199A, but no notice of award. Checked our senators and congress press releases and see nothing. How long are they going to keep me waiting??? OH THE STRESS!

I spoke with someone at dhs today about some information they required in the 10 questions. I advised her that I would be out of the country until the 23rd of august. She told me not to worry about anything while I was on my trip and that the awards have to made before september 30th, 2007 for the 2006 supplemental funds. She made the comment that they want to have all the awards together rather than one here and 3 here and then one more here. So I would expect the that the annoouncments would be the first or second week of septemeber or.... while I am gone and I wont get one becuase they emailed me something that required immediate response and I was on vacation ;).

Where did you see that??? I still don't have an award package even after getting the questions and the award number on my 1199A.
Nevermind - just found it! Didn't make this round I guess. Maybe next week.

I am in the same boat. I had to submitt my vehicle exhaust information for review because they thought the amount was too high. I am hoping that there is going to be mroe rounds. They offered me a reduction for a air compressor and I took it. Hope I am still in the running.

Here is a new wrinkle for all of us 2006 pendings. After answering some questions today for DHS, we agreed to some changes in quantities and amounts on our 2006 application. When I checked it tonight, the "submitted" date has changed to 8/10/07 and several items have "administratively changed" next to them on the request details page. I guess we are getting close!!!!

Hoserbt, dude, you need to chill guy! If I remember past posts, you got the 1199a update and the 10 questions right? If so relax guy, it will come. They generaly have to have all money for the 2006 program spent by Oct 1st, so most departments will have had to surrender their excess funds or turn back their awards by Sept 15.;)

I know i need to chill but this my first grant and I am very excited. I promise I will not make any more posts about this issue. Maybe instead I will start to chew my fingernails or something . Thanks for the positive words Hoserbt

hoser,
What was your compressor reduced to and did you apply just for a compressor or a complete air fill system?
hoserbt
08-23-2007, 05:16 PM
Our 2006 afg application was for 37500 for a bauer unicus III compressor filling station. It was also for 67000 for a vehicle exhaust system. In the ten questions they asked if I would accept 35000 for the compressor and i also had to submit specs and quotes for the vehicle exhaust system. We will see what happens.

First, salt in the coffee, now an award during class, I must say that would be classified as an improvement. Lets just not get to having any one go into labor and a delivery in class, I just don't know if we can stand another Kurt out there runnning around.

Congrats to the new 2006 winners.

Who would have thought that I would have missed a congressional call because I was too interested in a grant seminar to check my phone. What a day. I have to start by thanking kurt and margaret for a great seminar filled with essential information for productive grant writing. I can't wait to use this information to write my next grant. Second I have to say thanks to anyone who posted in this thread. As a first timer to the grant waiting game, I owe the 1 cm of nailbed I have left to you people. This was my first afg proposal and I am very excited that our department can take two huge steps forward. We will get a complete scba filling system and a vehicle exhaust removal system for the station. Speaking of be able to breathe easy now :) 97,000 fedral share.
Well now I am off to spend 2 hours on a polaris trails grant in hopes of outfitting the 6x6 we got from us smokless and begin to use all the information that trapped between my ears before it leaks out.
Be safe..

Hoser, now you can start giving advice on here as well and call yourself a veteran. The next step GURU status, has been reserved for the few like Kurt, Brian, Earl as well as Attack and Catch. I know I have gained from all of them and will continue to use the forums as a great resource for info and insight. Just have to stay up on all of the changes in the guidance each year and ahead of the competition. Congrats

Earl, the coffee could have been worse, at least it was called coffee, not one of those three name drinks that Kurt is trying to call coffee. Hate to tell him, but when he gets to Hazard the closest Starbucks will be about two hours away. But on the other hand the nice 6x6 elk I looked at this morning is only about 15 minutes. By the way Kurt, a Jack and Coke is not considered coffee here.

Still have award # listed on 1199A for '06. Got Q's back in July and had to send them back twice since they didn't get them the first time. I got a call from FEMA last Sunday wanting to know if we were still interested in grant and if we still had matching funds. So thought we might be in last round but nothing as of yet.

You certainly deserve it after waiting all this time...I thought we were bad, we received our 1199A on Aug 4th and 10Q's on Aug 14th....others told me it will be a couple weeks yet!! Well that has came and gone. I hope ours doesn't drag out like yours, the suspense is killing me!! I know I can't change things but I am impatiently waiting. Anyways, Good Luck!!
