I was wondering if any one out there who has been or is in the coast guard could give me some help... I need to know if while some one is enlisted in the Coast Guard can they change thier residency (for me from Bowdoinham, ME to Boston, MA) and if it is possible to get leave to take the statewide hiring test in Boston.

Thanks for any info!

Justin

Hey Fellow Coastie!
I dont know about the residency requiremnt issue, but get your ducks in order as a fellow DC3 most of your certs will not be reconized by the Fire Service but you will get Vets Pref.and Life Exp Credits....Good Luck!

I thought you had to serve in a hostile situation to get Vets pref? Or serve in a conflict or war or something like that...?

Typicaly:5 pts. for just being a Vet, 10 Pts.for Combat Vet: all you need to have done was served during a conflict ie. Desert Storm, Iraqi Fredom etc.. you could have served in the US just as long as you served during that time frame!
