Does anyone know what qualifications boston fd look for you to have? I know the next test is in 2008. I would like more information on the Boston FD and on being a firefighter for the city of Boston. Thanks

I have been emailing the Fire Fighter/Public Info Officer in Boston back and forth for awhile and he pretty much told me you gotta be a resident for a full year directly prior the test and if you want any chance you have to have Veteran Status.

If you don't live in the City of Boston Proper and you aren't a Veteran of the Military don't bother.

yeah there are mostly vets in boston. you have to be a resident fpr 12 months prior to the written exam. if you get on you have to be a resident . i've heard forever and i've heard for five years. make some calls and find out.

You gotta be a resident 12months prior to the test, and they check! The last 2 classes had civilians in them but not many... If you are a resident and a veteran then there is no reason not to get on...
