I noticed they are taking apps for firefighter/paramedic. Do you have to be a medic to apply?

Yeah.. you do. You cant even start the process without having your I or P. It's a seperate process.

I would not worry about it. The likelyhood of them getting enough Medics to fullfill the need is slim to none.

The open to public "Paramedic/Firefighter" position is continuous recruitment. When that announcement expires, another will be posted.
The "Firefighter/Paramedic" position is not open to the public.

I thought I did clarify it? PM/FF is an external hire (not currently employed by FEMS in any capacity) , FF/PM is an internal hire (currently employed by FEMS, ie:civilian Paramedic/EMT-I).

Does anyone have a time frame on how long it takes dc recruiting office to get back to after you have went thru all the steps of the process as well as the blue book? any info would be greatly appreciated. I was able to complete all the steps at once for the paramedic/firefighter hiring.

I suppose my comment was a bit vague. Sorry bout that.
I'm assuming the PM/FF is on the ambulance, while the FF/PM is on an engine/other?
Will be calling the recruitment office today or tomorrow, thanks for your input DC.
NO NO NO NO NO NO!
They are the same job! Dual role/cross trained ALS personnel (FF/PM or PM/FF) are NEVER assigned to a transport unit (at the present time). They are just different job titles to define whether or not you were a crossover employee.
