I'm a Fire Chief in Missouri. We have been running basic life support for several years now. We have several EMT's and everyone else is trained to First Responder. I'm looking for a set of medical protocols that I can beg, borrow or steal from someone that will cover a First Responder agency and still cover the EMT's also. We do not transport anyone we only assist the Ambulance services in the area. We have protocols now but I really don't believe they are up to par with the rest of the world or at least the State of Missouri. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Email firechief@mcfpd.org Thanks

Are you asking for agency-specific medical protocols or are you looking to establish (or update) a set of regional protocols? Even if you rarely transport, you should still have some sort of physician overseeing your medical operations if you provide any kind of in-the-field life support. Perhaps this person, or someone in a similar position if you don't have a particular MD to go to, could give you some guidance here as well.

Our Regional EMS (treatment) protocols can be viewed / downloaded here:
http://western.vaems.org/pdfdocs/WVEMS%202006%20Protocols%20Fin al%20-%208-03-06.pdf

They cover all levels from FR to Paramedic.

hope that helps.
