Good evening,
After having searched this forum I came up short for the answer to my question, so here goes a new thread..
I'm a volunteer firefighter trying to go career, and I'm approaching my 3 year mark in the fire service.. wackenhut services minimum amount of experience needed to apply.
My question as seen in my title is, will I have a shot? I'm not sure how they feel about volunteers, but I meet all the certification requirements and as I 22 year old with nothing to lose, I feel I would be a prime candidate.
Any input would be appreciated,
Jourdan

Hey Jourdan,
Don't worry man, I'm 22 and a "volly" too. Seems like if you meet the minimums, you can get in. After I sent in my resume Kris contacted me fast. Got my packet a couple days later, and phone interview about two days after they recieved it back. THANK YOU EXPRESS OVERNIGHT MAIL!
Just waiting to get my physical done so I can send that packet in. Also, if you do apply, go ahead and apply for your passport. It's been a hassle to get mine.
Hope to see you over there.

im a 14 year vollie and i need to take a EMT refresher (i hope soon) and get my pro board certs (this sept). its been a hassle for me because of the rest of the crap i had to go through. right now im not in a fire dept. although i should have been one last month (oh well). so my tech course is going to coast me about $750 and my certs are gonna be around $280. the only reason im willing to pay over 1 K for my certs is to go over seas. stay motivated and im sure you would get there. it seams easy enough.

Go ahead and apply now. If you are close to the 3 that is better than some I met over there. There was a 19 year old over there. Probably more than one but I only met one. How the hell does a 19 year old have 3 years experience? Sorry but junior time don't cut it. Probably does with WSI though. "I've lived two doors down from a firehouse for 4 years, and I walk past it every day when I take my poodle for a walk." BAM! You're hired!

I am 20Yrs old and a Vollie in South Australia. I currently have years of experience as a firefighter, senior first aid and in September i am looking to finish my Breathing Apparatus Course. I have put in an application to KBR as you from what i understand don't need to be a US citizen. I have a few Questions though!!
Is age a restriction on going to Iraq??
Is there any other Australians over there??
How long is the application process with KBR??
When should i expect to hear from them??
Do KBR enable you to fly home on your time off??
I am a little apprehensive, but at the end of the day there is no harm in applying. I honestly don't expect to get anywhere.
If someone could pelase answer my questions it would be much appreciated....Thanks in Advance
