Moving to Denver soon. Any good companies out there for EMT-Bs?
I'd like to take up EMT-P early next year.
Thanks,

Hi,
I am looking into possibly moving to the Denver area and applying to the Denver Paramedics. I have heard of their reputation as one of the best EMS organizations in the country. I was wondering if they are good to work for and if the turnover is low. I currently work for St. Louis EMS and I am looking to move to another high call volume dept. But I dont know much about them except what I can read about them on their website. Any further info would be great.
Thanks

Hi,
It seems to be the place you want to be. From what has been said to me so far it's really what the say it is: an outstanding company. And since they do 911 it'd be a challenging one as well.
When are you moving there?

If you are only looking to run EMS you could start with:
Denver (DG) probally the best
Pridemark...not sure how long they will be in Bussines though?Lots of FDs taking over transport.
Thompson Valley EMS.. in Loveland
Weld County Paramedics..Rural
Action Care...Littleton
Grand County EMS....slow but extremly progressive EMT protocols/transports
Pudre Valley ambulance..Ft.Collins, Hospital Based
Northglen Ambulance
Rural Metro..Aurora
and of course AMR:eek:

Well it all depends on what you are looking for. Are you looking for SARS, 911, or just going for what you can get? Some great advice I have learned is not to start out in 911 system right away if you are new to EMS. It's better to gradually work your way up so you aren't thrown to the wolves. However, if you are not 21 or older, it might be hard to find a job due to the fact that most EMS providers prefer people over 21 for insurance purposes. Granted, the list above by wakehead is a great starting place for submitting applications. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Not sure when I am moving. I am just keeping my options open. I am not set in stone where I want to go next. I know that I can not stay in St. Louis for an extended period of time. I have been in EMS for a couple of years now and I know I want a high call volume 911 system. I am also looking into Nashville, TN and the North Carolina area. I have always loved the Denver area and I have heard Denver Paramedics are some of the best and that is who I would be interested in working for if Denver is where I end up at. Thanks again for all your replies they really do help.
