Info on Aurora

Hey All,
I am looking for More information about Aurora Fire Department, and yes I have looked at thair website both City and IAFF, I am trying to gather as much info possible for a Brother that does not have a Firehouse.com membership. He would be a Lateral Entery Candidate, anything as far as Morale of the Dept to the Rocky Mountain Fire Academy, how though is it? and anything you could add.

Hey Wakehead,

One of my closest coworkers best friend just went through their last academy and he loving life, he just got assigned to the truck. This is pretty common as I understand it with Aurora, you get to go to the truck for the first six months after academy and then it is something like a 12 year wait to get back to it, very competitive. It sounded like the academy was typical of any big city department, "yes, sir" and a lot of PT, but like I said he is just loving it. Also, pay is very good, he was picked up right out of medic school and I think after the first year he will be close to 60K. He says that moral is good, although this is through the eyes of someone who has just landed his dream job so I am sure he is a little more positive than anyone else on the department. Good department through, lots of calls, no ambulance and always 4 man engine and trucks companies. Sounds tough to beat. Just out of curiosity what department do you work for?
