I am a newly certified EMT-B. I have been sending out apps. for positions and have been sent a nicely worded canned letter for every one of them thanking me for my interest but no thanks.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have 12 years of medical experience working in a local hospital. What tips can you suggest that I can do to at least get to an interview. Are they looking for something particular in the application? (And before you ask I have a clean record.)

Appreciate any comments and ideas that you could throw my way.

Have a great day.

I know how hard it is. I was on my 13 application before I recieved a job. While most agencies send out rejection letters before they even get to know you, there are a few that are willing to give a canidate a chance. You must ask yourself if you're willing to relocate though. I have noticed that most EMT's I have talked with have at one point or another relocated to another city or state just to get a job.

Also, your medical experience might not be enough. Have you thought about a letter of recommendation from someone? These are priceless as they get your foot in the door. As for the application, is your resume set up to an EMS resume? I have a site....(http://emsresource.net/resume.shtml) and if you want to brush up on particular interview questions, they have a page dedicated to that. While it may be hard to find a job, there is one out there. Be persistent. Don't give up! Hope this helps. If you need any more advice or just have a few questions feel free to ask.

I'm in the same boat as you are. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one! I guess we can just keep trying and praying. Something will turn up eventually.

unfortinatly EMTs are a dime a dozen, think about it how many professions can you get in with only one semester of school? competion for Basic EMT jobs can be overwelming.....

unfortinatly EMTs are a dime a dozenthis is not ment to be a cut down or slam, you cant throw a rock out here in Colorado without hitting an EMT.

There is always Medic School, always a job for one of them!
