When will Cincinnati be testing and what's the process like? Anyone know any info about the department? Thanks.

CINCYONE would be a good source of info for this question. However, you can also check their website.

I have a couple good friends who work there. Call their training bureau, the number should be on the web and they can help you with many of your questions. One tip...better make sure you like to run and are capable of a lot of miles. Their instructors like to make daily mini-marathons around the streets past many different firehouses just to show off the recruits.

Anyone know any info about the department? Thanks.

In 1853, they became the first paid full-time fire department in the US as well as the first fire department in the US to use steam-powered engines (invented in the city in 1852).

Cincinnati will most likely be testing again sometime in 2008. There were roughly 1600 applicants that sat for the written examination in March of last year. The top 300 or so scorers were then invited to participate in the physical agility in May; which was basically a modified CPAT. The top 100 were also invited to take the polygraph 1 week prior to the agility. Eligible applicants were called back in August for fingerprinting and the department hired 40 to start the academy December 18. That's the process in a nutshell.

CFD graduated a class about two weeks ago. Rumor has it that they went so far down the list for that class, that they will have to put another test on this summer. Its just a rumor I heard from guys on the dept. Also the current list expires in November so they will have test in '08 if not this summer.

I ran into a guy from Rescue 46 (ALS transport) last night, and the current rumor is taking one more class of approximately 20 from this list. I'll check with a few friends down there and see if they have any relaible info.
