Hi,
I am a UK firefighter (Station Officer) 17 years service. I am looking to relocate with my family to follow my chosen career. Could anyone please tell me how to get into the US as a firefighter. What is required, where do I look? etc.

Regards

There was another thread just like this very recently. Most places won't hire you unless you have permanent alien status or are a US citizen. From what I understand both require a significant investment in time and money. Good Luck.

You have to get the green card or citizenship and then you have to move and start applying........you will have to start all over again and then, with training and the testing process is about 2 years of hard work , nbut I got my job offer this weeka dn I am super super happy!

Try the New Zealand Fire Service. They do an exchange programme for fulltime firefighters for up to 12 months. In that time you could aply for residency and make the move. (www.NZFS.co.nz)

Hi from Australia, as above Queensland has an exchange program that allows for a 12 month exchange, not sure about emigration requirements, but we regularly have guys from other states/military/NZ and so on joining up with QFRS. Not sure what the process is.

Good luck with your aims
