Hello,
I'm doing research for an article on older adults (aged 50+) who have started a new career as volunteer EMTs. If you became a volunteer EMT following retirement from an unrelated field of work and are aged 50 and older, I'd like to interview you. I can be reached at akicooke@yahoo.com.
TIA,
Amy Cooke
Here is the list of interview questions:
1)Why did you want to become an EMT?
2)What is your level of certification?
3)What squad/firehouse are you a member of? How long have you been a member?
4)What do you like about EMT work? What do you find difficult?
5)When you began the application/training process to become an EMT, was your age ever an issue for those doing the hiring?
6)What are the advantages and disadvantages of being an older EMT?
7)What advice would you give other older adults who are interested in becoming an EMT?
8)What is the average age of volunteers in your squad?
9)Anything else you'd like to add?
