Hello to my brothers in the Volunteer State!!
My wife and I are seriously considering a move to the great state of Tennessee! (Within the next year or so.) I am looking for any info on volunteer, Paid-on-Call, combo and small to medium fulltime depts., in that area. (Where they are, call volume etc.) A little about myself...10+ years as a paid call firefighter (personal run volume of 200+ per year). Former NREMT-B. Currently FF1 & FF2 and Fire Instructor 1 (all ProBoard NPQ).
What are (if any) requirements for joining and/or hiring? I know this will vary from one place to another, but a little background would help. I would like to go fulltime but my age (38) may put me at a disadvantage.

Also, home prices, apt. rentals & taxes, other job markets (should the fulltime not work out).
We have visited there 3 times in the last 4 years, but its hard to get info like this while there for such a short time.

You can send email to me at wtrbryvtfire@yahoo.com

Thanks a lot!!

Brian

We are just south of Nashville in Williamson county. Our county has 6 volunteer departments and 4 paid departments. One of our firefighters is a real estate agent and can provide you with a lot of information about our area. Williamson County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at about 3.0% and is the location of choice for executives and corporate headquarters like Nissan.

Hey brother chattanooga is doing some mad hireing right now and you will just slide under the wire with you age. With your certs you should get hired if you do well on the tests. As far as the liveing situation schools are good and it is a great place to raise a family. to get an application you need to go to E.11st. to the annex building 3rd floor. As far as online app I don't know I'll have to do some research. But that should help some.
