Just crossed the 11PM news that a news crew is on the way to 18th and Alberta in Central North Portland, apparently a heavy police response going that way for a reported riot with up to 400 people involved.

Maybe it will be overblown and not turn out to be much. We can hope. Portland is not the kind of place known for rioting.

Well, something went nuts out there. That area was apparently holding some sort of evening gathering called "Last Thursday" with art galleries and coffee shops open late (that's more like Portland ;) ) with normal crowds numbering in the several 100's.

Not clear what happened tonight, but a massive police response apparently, media being kept eight blocks away, PPD PIO is reportedly on the way over there. No word on crimes or damage or lack thereof. Heck, probably someone got upset because they couldn't get half and half for their venti caffe mocha. Surely a good cause for a lot of black and whites to come sort things out.

It's a long wait from the 11PM news to the 5:30AM news. Zzzzzzzz night shift. :o

Anyway, the news is back and now calling it a disturbance of around 200 people, with PPD tasering just one guy who is facing charges for something or other.

Anticlimactic. Oh well.
