You are a funny guy. Please keep up with the ignorant stereotypes. I've lived in the same house for almost 30 years. We scraped together enough to buy a couple others as rentals. We didn't know at the time any of them would be worth 15x what they cost at this point in time.

Haughty conservative...snooty, hypocrit liberals, you can keep them both. I have steadfastly refused to become a member of either political party and vote for whomever I feel will best serve my district. You see I simply can't vote single issues like abortion, or gun control, or the environment, or jobs, or immigration. There is more to life than crusading about single issues. As there is more to life than being a liberal hypocrit that sees nothing but evil and wrong in this country but still takes advantage of the good economy and good real estate prices to make large profits. So tell me other than hypocrisy and whining what seperates you from a conservative money grubber?

The fact that I realize my income is derived from taxation and don't bitch about paying taxes. Or the fact that what little prosperity I enjoy hasn't been borne on the backs of others like good conservatives Ken Lay or Jeff Skilling. Or complaining about the size of government and then getting a good no-bid contract from a government agency. As is done here regularly in OC despite their carpings of being the "reddest" county. The economy is good because of a fiscal policy that is whistling past the graveyard. Call me crazy but I thought conservatives embraced the idea of a balanced budgets and "paying as you go" as was done during the 90's. You prove me wrong.
I see a lot of good in America and Americans. I just don't see it in the policies of this administration.

I see a lot of good in America and Americans. I just don't see it in the policies of this administration. Whatever...I didn't see much good in the policies of Bill Clinton either...boy did he do us some favors. NAFTA, failure to take out Osama when he clearly had the chance, failure to act one time in a significant way to counter any terrorist attack on US citizens, including the military, riding the wave of the false economic boom of the most corrupt corporate leaders in the history of this country, failure, though he and the co-president claimed it was a priority, to enact one shred of meaningful healthcare legislation, the damn near destruction of the military, and quite possibly being the most public recipient, other than a porn star on tape, of oral sex in the history of the world. By no means were either one of the Clinton's angels when it came to their business dealings...so be careful how you point those fingers.
Does that help? Sure it proves that you didn't read a damn thing I wrote, had a set judgement in mind and posted to that. Nice job, is this more of an example of open minded liberalism?
The one thing I hope is that one, or more than one, viable, believable, candidates will emerge during the next grueling months of the campaign. Because so far all that either party has offered is more of the same tired old clap trap that means nothing to the average citizen.

Blah blah blah blah. You are beginning to sound like a mynah bird on crack. The talking points are right out of Rush Limbaugh's or Sean Hannity's talking points. So pardon me if I mistake you for another Clinton hater.
But lets address your points one at a time:
Terrorism.
A chronological order of events and the Clinton Administration's reaction.
On 26 February 1993, a car loaded with 1,200 pounds of explosives blew up in a parking garage under the World Trade Center, killing six people and injuring about a thousand others. The blast did not, as its planners intended, bring down the towers — that was finally accomplished by flying two hijacked airliners into the twin towers on the morning of 11 September 2001.
Four followers of the Egyptian cleric Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman were captured, convicted of the World Trade Center bombing in March 1994, and sentenced to 240 years in prison each. The purported mastermind of the plot, Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, was captured in 1995, convicted of the bombing in November 1997, and also sentenced to 240 years in prison. One additional suspect fled the U.S. and is believed to be living in Baghdad.
On 13 November 1995, a bomb was set off in a van parked in front of an American-run military training center in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh, killing five Americans and two Indians. Saudi Arabian authorities arrested four Saudi nationals whom they claim confessed to the bombings, but U.S. officials were denied permission to see or question the suspects before they were convicted and beheaded in May 1996.
On 25 June 1996, a booby-trapped truck loaded with 5,000 pounds of explosives was exploded outside the Khobar Towers apartment complex which housed United States military personnel in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, killing nineteen Americans and wounding about three hundred others. Once again, the U.S. investigation was hampered by the refusal of Saudi officials to allow the FBI to question suspects.
On 21 June 2001, just before the American statute of limitations would have expired, a federal grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, indicted thirteen Saudis and an unidentified Lebanese chemist for the Khobar Towers bombing. The suspects remain in Saudi custody, beyond the reach of the American justice system. (Saudi Arabia has no extradition treaty with the U.S.)
On 7 August 1998, powerful car bombs exploded minutes apart outside the United States embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, killing 224 people and wounding about 5,000 others. Four participants with ties to Osama bin Laden were captured, convicted in U.S. federal court, and sentenced to life in prison without parole in October 2001. Fourteen other suspects indicted in the case remain at large, and three more are fighting extradition in London.
On 12 October 2000, two suicide bombers detonated an explosives-laden skiff next to the USS Cole while it was refueling in Aden, Yemen, blasting a hole in the ship that killed 17 sailors and injured 37 others. No suspects have yet been arrested or indicted. The investigation has been hampered by the refusal of Yemini officials to allow FBI agents access to Yemeni nationals and other suspects in custody in Yemen.
(The USS Cole bombing occurred one month before the 2000 presidential election, so even under the best of circumstances it was unlikely that the investigation could have been completed before the end of President Clinton's term of office three months later.)
In August 1998, President Clinton ordered missile strikes against targets in Afghanistan in an effort to hit Osama bin Laden, who had been linked to the embassy bombings in Africa (and was later connected to the attack on the USS Cole). The missiles reportedly missed bin Laden by a few hours, and Clinton was widely criticized by many who claimed he had ordered the strikes primarily to draw attention away from the Monica Lewinsky scandal. As John F. Harris wrote in The Washington Post:
the federal budget on anti-terror activities tripled during Clinton's watch, to about $6.7 billion. After the effort to kill bin Laden with missiles in August 1998 failed — he had apparently left a training camp in Afghanistan a few hours earlier — recent news reports have detailed numerous other instances, as late as December 2000, when Clinton was on the verge of unleashing the military again. In each case, the White House chose not to act because of uncertainty that intelligence was good enough to find bin Laden, and concern that a failed attack would only enhance his stature in the Arab world.
People maintain Clinton should have adapted Bush's policy promising that regimes that harbor terrorism will be treated as severely as terrorists themselves, and threatening to evict the Taliban from power in Afghanistan unless leaders meet his demands to produce bin Laden and associates. But Clinton aides said such a policy — potentially involving a full-scale war in central Asia — was not plausible before politics the world over became transformed by one of history's most lethal acts of terrorism.
Contrary to the AF Col. who claimed an opportunity to get Bin Laden was pissed away because Clinton was engrossed in a golf game no one else (even the CIA agents involved) have confirmed the episode. In fact the 911 Commission was unable to uncover evidence this event ever took place.
Just how much justice do you want?
Healthcare:
Clinton's proposed healthcare plans were fought tooth and nail by both conservatives and the very strong health care and pharmaceutical industry. In eight years Bush keeps babbling about free market forces in the health care industry will be the answer as insurance premiums continue to skyrocket and service declines. The latest pharmaceutical legislation pushed by this administration has been the best tax payer financed boondoggle for the drug industry. To the point where cocaine growers should turn to making legit drugs. It pays better.
Military Spending:
The peace dividend was embraced by both parties after the collapse of the Soviet Union. From 1994 till he left office a GOP Congress approved military spending at the level you claimed was destroyed. The military was so destroyed that it kicked the hell out of the Taliban and Iraqi Army (one of the better equipped) in a matter of two years. The US spends as much on defense as the next ten nations combined. Yet you believe we are weak. What is your basis for that statement?
Economy:
The economy boomed...Period. The budget was balanced and you never had it so good. Clinton was in office. Get over it.
Personal Life:
Didn't realize you were so interested in another man's sex life. Is there something you want to tell us? Things a little lonely on the homefront in Wisconsin? The only reason anyone knew about his marital infidelities is because conservatives couldn't take their faces out of his pants for eight years. Other than a couple of right wing wackos, no one cared.
Business Dealings:
As far as business dealings. The current idiot in chief and his VP are setting new records for their past dealings. And don't even get started on the profiteering that has gone on because of this foreign policy disaster.
I'll be the first to admit Clinton was no angel in personal life. I didn't vote for him to be Pope. I voted for him to lead and manage the nation. And in my view he did both well with a hostile congress and endless subpoenas for six years. Bush on the other hand has squandered a surplus, runup huge deficits, and engaged us into a policy disaster in the middle east. And he had a friendly legislature for six years.

Politically I consider myself the fuselage in your analogy. I have leaned hard both ways at times but almost always recenter and remove myself from partisan politics and focus on issues.
The three most commonly listened to CD's right now are Green Day's American Idiot, Head East and Meatloaf Bat Out of Hell 1. But on any given day it may vary from James Brown to Matchbox 20 to Aerosmith to Bob Seeger to Bob Dylan to AC/DC to America and more. I don't know if I've ever "Parrotted" anyone or not. And, I could care less. Neither Major Political Party represents more than a few of my views, and I don't need their input into my life. This great Nation desperately needs a political party to represent the views of the true majority, the "middle of the road" folks who are sick and tired of the antics of the extremists, both Dem, and Repub. I'm a registered Republican, because I saw the GOP as the lesser of two evils, not because I embrace the Bible Thumpers. I am firmly opposed to the mixing of Religion and Politics. On the other hand, I do not believe we, as a nation, should engage in all the "Politically Correct" crap that is forced on everyone by the Democrats. I've never listened to Don Imus, and what I've seen of him in the last two weeks, I don't like. BUT, He spoke his own opinion, and he should NOT have any problems from that. Sometimes the truth has a way of doing that . :D :D :D

That we don't agree is not important. The fact that we are free to disagree is paramount. Go back and read GoDSendRain's post on this page. To me, his Signature line has an interesting twist to it. Do you think Winston Churchill's comments were about 50 years ahead of the times?? It sure sounds like he's referring to the Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to me.

"Everyone is in favour of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its being extolled, but some people's idea of it is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage." - Winston Churchill
Now I can relate to that........ ;)

You are the master of the spin. No matter what I say at this point you will spin it, twist it, eat it and **** out whatever you feel will make you look good. So go right ahead.
By the way, my comments about free speech were directed to hwoods in response to his posting and were in no way directed at you or about you. So get over yourself.
Oh, and do have a nice day.

If pointing out the fallacies of your arguments now qualifies as spin I plead guilty as charged.
Have a good one.

I'm having a great day. I wish you could too but you still appear to be so very angry. But then again that really is the driving force of the liberal left.
Sit back, have a cool drink and stare into the setting sun...and try to relax.

I don't think his words were 50 years ahead of the times. The times just come in the same old cycles - only different flavors, that's all. The question is, what will we do differently, if we will do anything differently at all?
Though, it must have been exciting to live in the times of Churchill. Excuse me, I'm having a nostalgic moment.

You flatter yourself if you believe any of the crap you or any other conservative spews affects me emotionally. Given your constant restating of untruths I would have to say you're the angry one. And the best part is your anger has no basis in anything factual. How's that for irony?

Hey. I've been to KC. I spent a whole month there one weekend.

The ironic thing is your inability to recognize that you have consistantly labeled me as a conservative. Since that has happened I am going to have to e-mail Senator Russ Feingold and see if he can give me my vote back, the same with Congressperson Tammy Baldwin and our Governor Jim Doyle...amazingly all Democrats and none of whih has ever been accused of being conservative. You paint people into little corners because it is easier for you. The whole commie lib thing started out as mostly a friendly jab, too bad you proved that you are a stereotypical lib, with no sense of humor, no sense of honor, angry at the system you milk to your advantage, and frankly you are a snob.
Then add to that I simply mention the national embarassment of Bill's oh so public daliances and you, like the true gentleman you aren't, turn that into some slander campaign about my sexuality. Golly Mr Self Righteous I thought that was taboo in liberal land. Well, unless you are trying to divert conversation by slandering the other person.
Angry? Not hardly. What I am is disappointed that the stereotype of the lib was proven once again.
Nice try. And don't worry about my being able to relax, from my back porch I stare at the setting sun as it disappears over the horizon known as the Pacific Ocean.....daily. Do you?
Well, let me tell you what...You can keep the ocean. I have been to both coasts and honestly after about a half hour or so looking at the Ocean gets old for me. Believe it or not, not everyone wants to live on the ocean. I much prefer all 4 seasons. I much prefer looking out from my porch and seeing White Tailed Deer, Sand Hill Cranes, Red Tail Hawks, Canadian Geese, Ducks of many kinds, Turkey Vultures, Turkeys, coyotes, the occasional wolf and many other types of wild life. I much prefer the wooded landscape and many inland waterways of Wisconsin. So do you see what I see on a daily basis?
Oh, and have a nice day. Please do put on sun screen and wear you sunglasses and hat. I would hate for the sun to takes it toll on you.

And during the summertime how many of those White Tailed Deer, Sand Hill Cranes, Red Tail Hawks, Canadian Geese, Ducks of many kinds, Turkey Vultures, Turkeys, coyotes, the occasional wolf and many other types of wild life walk past your porch in very skimpy bathing suits or string bikinis? I've lost track of the times that happens to me. But hey, if you're into the animal thing who am I to say you shouldn't. :D

For now, some day that beach front is going to move somewhere near Arizona, then what. We need to shore up that shoreline and stop worrying about global warming. At least work on something you might be able to do something about. ;)

Here is a real funny statement from our beloved Hillary found in the local newspaper
She was addressing about 1000 people in a high school gym in New Hampshire. A young woman form NY was asking if she had read the 92 page intelligence document prior to her 2002 vote to authorize the war.
"I was thoroughly briefed on it. I was briefed on it," Clinton said repeatedly as the woman tried to interrupt her. I think it's such a difficult thing to go back in time and say what everyone was thinking."
"What I will say is I believed that what we were doing was giving the president the authority to put inspectors in Iraq. That's what we were told privately. That what we were told publicly."
Either this woman is a complete liar or she is a total idiot. Every Joe around knew they were voting to authorize the war.

Yeah, but how does that compare to a sunrise over a poop-filled Great Lake, when the high temp for the day will be 10F.

Sc,reread the post.EXCEPTING the left coast,a lot of women have a thing for critters(4 legged). We have transplants or weekend residents who come up just to gaze at the wildlife. And most aren't too hard on the eyes and probably a little more low maintence than the eye candy you're used to.Ask me about a "hanging rack"sometime.
