What are the chances of being hired with a Misdemeanor - Leaving screen of accident? The accident did not involve an person, just drove into a ditch. I know DUIs make it really hard to get hired, how's this misdemeanor rank. This would be for a job in Florida.

Leaving the screen? I think you mean scene..you might wanna lay off the sauce for a bit.

If you have no other sort of record, it may just be marked off as a mistake. Especially if you say, quit drinking after that. DUI's are not the greatest thing to have on your record..it's hard to say, depends on the department, the interviewer..lots of stuff.

Leaving the scene of an accident is by no means in your case a deal breaker. Just put down the infraction and then in the comment section explain it. Whe the Background Investigator asks you about it just explain it to him/or her. It really depends on the Department as anyone could disqualify you. More important is that you do not hide the misdemeanor. If asked answer to the best of your ability and good luck.

Were you drinking? Were there witnesses? What did the report say?

I had a couple of drinks that night and I was hung over the next morning when the police came to the house. The police did put in their report that I had been drinking. However, I didn't say anything about drinking in my statement. We had people over that night and I did have some more drinks when I got home from accident. I really did not know this was considered "Leaving the scene of the accident", I thought there needed to be another car involved, there wasn't even anyone around to give my insurance information to.
