I am relocating to the City of Winston – Salem and would like some information on becoming a Fireman for City of Winston – Salem Fire Department .I do have a question regarding City of Winston – Salem area hiring process. It is better for me to be a resident of City of Winston – Salem in order for me to be considered for the Fireman's position? Who has better chance getting hired City resident or none resident? How many do they hire each year? What is hiring process like?
Please email @ snakebrody@yahoo.com thanks Jon

Winston's living requirements state that you must live in Forsyth County or a county that it touches. Your chance of getting the job based on where you live doesn't matter. They give you six months from the date you start Rookie School to move within their requirements.

Also Greensboro Fire Department, High Point City Fire and several paid departments in Guilford County may be hiring and it is a very short drive from Winston-Salem.

You're an explorer, alot of things will be new to you. Just like not all fire trucks are red.

Five years later and still have never heard of that one. Especially knowing a few guys who don't meet it.

They hired about 15 this year. They generally have one class a year though they had 2 last year.
When I had my interview back in January they didnt ask anything about how well I knew the area.
