Damn that sucks man, well all that matters is that you got accepted and it will come, I was suppose to leave today April 2nd 2007, but my friend could not make that flight so being a good pal i move my date, no big deal, 2 weeks longer with the wife and my family. Yeah I'm 19 yrs old and married, been seeing my wife since we were 13. so Thats another reason I'm heading over. To help us start a life like a house and **** like that.

Being 19, did you have the required experience
Also, does anyone know, if you can just be a paramedic over in Iraq, or do you need to be a firefighter as well.

Do we do EMS there or just hospital work, any one know, and is there a way to become a combat medic?

Y'all don't have to worry about figuring out how/where to meet. You'll be in the same hotel. Odds are you'll run into each other in the lobby or hallways the day you arrive, but if not you'll meet the next morning when Kris has you meet him in the lobby of whichever hotel your in.

You seem to know alot about WSI and what is to be expected in-country, What advice can you give someone that is trying to come over there? Do you leave from Houston to Bagdad or do they give you a choice of deployment dates?

Best advice that can be given is keep an open mind. And don't come in acting like you know it all. You might be good/experienced/well trained, but SOMEBODY is more so. Others will be less so. There are people here from all over, with different ways of doing things. They aren't necessarily wrong just because "that's not how MY department back home does it."
You leave from Houston to Dubai. KBR will put you up in a hotel in Dubai, send you to Baghdad. Once there you report to WSI HQ and will go through all the in-processing stuff, to include having some in put reguarding where you would like to go. Doesn't mean you'll go there/get your choice. Just means they're trying to take what you want into consideration along with your skills/training/experience and the company's needs.

Here is a good piece of advice......Don't be a douchebag!!!!!!!! and if you just said to yourself "what does he mean?" then you are probably a douchebag.
Hector leave your "I have been doing this since I was 2 years old" attitude in NC. If not I know some folks that will eat you alive !!!!!
Hey Gittop KBR does medical stuff ( medic stuff) mostly clinical and work related stuff. if you want to be a combat medic....its real simple....go see these guys they are called recruiters...I met them when I was 18. they will lead you in the right direction.
WSI FIRE if the guy from B-6 is adouchebag and is at Bucca or headed there....he will be just another one in a long list of douchebags that have been sent there.
Ok well I am bored now

ROFL at the "don't be a douchebag" comment. That's probably the best advice I've read here.
Smoke, I'm sure he's at Bucca by now. Haven't heard, don't really care. Just thanking God daily he didn't come back here. Don't know how he'll fit in there. I don't know anyone there to know if they're douchebags or not.

I was in country from Jan 05 to Jun 06.....I spent time at Hell On Earth better known as Victory or also known as the land of Cole...also spent time at Bucca and it is like all other places....some really good guys with a liberal amount of douchebags......I think that pretty well describes all things WSI.

I would have to agree with you smoke, a person should never quit learning no matter how long someone has been on the job. FTM-PTB-EBGH =BROTHERHOOD

India called today to set up phone interview for Tuesday, What is the interview like? I have always been face to face during a interview.
WSIFire
04-13-2007, 04:11 PM
Unless the interview has changed, all you need to do is have your resume in front of you and be awake (preferrably with a pulse also) and you'll do fine. They just more or less verify your info on the resume, and give you some info on the job. Once that's over they'll offer you probably 2 or 3 dates to choose from to go to Houston. That pretty much means you've got the job. Unless you totally f*#k up, like say maybe hitting on whoever calls you for the interview, or your so drunk you can't speak, its nothing to worry about.

Your shots and physical are with your doctor....and that has to be done prior to going to Houston

Are you speaking of going to work for KBR or WSI?
If its WSI, you can call back to the main office and ask. For me, they didn't send my ticket until the week before I flew.
Also, you'll be flying into IAH, not HOU. (thats Bush Intercontinental, not Hobby)

I apologize for that, I wrote HOU as short for Houston...
And yes, I am going to work for KBR...Also I know that KBR should contact me at least one week prior to the flight, but I was just wondering if someone knows how long ussually takes for them to contact and give info about the flight schedule?
