I have asked this question in a few threads already (not a new thread, rather a reply to origional posts), but have not found any answers. I am on somewhat of a time-crunch, in the event I need to exchange my product.

I have the 3M Littmann LIGHTWEIGHT II SE

however, the 'head' (not up to par on the techinical term) is plastic. It seems like a semi-tough plastic. Though, will the plastic:

Hamper the sound quality?
Pose a risk of breaking?
Even though its a Littmann, have the possibility to be cheap?

Thanks!

if it really bothers you then exchange it otherwise unless your gonna beat the head of it repeatedly i dont see it failing at any time.

the partner I work with has a littmann lightweight, and she seems to like it. she works part time for an urban EMS agency, and per diem at a suburban one. she's been doing it for 5 or so years now, and it seems to work for her.

Personally, I have a Littmann master classic, but that's because I figured it would be better, but it all depends on how much you want to spend on it.

I believe there are significant differences between the two models, but whether those differences will affect you depends on what you plan to use the scope for. For example, for taking blood pressures, either scope will do. On the other hand, for listening to heart sounds you may want the classic vs the lightweight.

I have owned a Classic SE II for years, and it has been a fantastic set of ears. I have switched to a Cardiology III for the acoustic advantage, but still use the Classic as a back up, (going on eight years now). I'd say if there is a question of quality, spend the extra thirty dollars, and get something that is going to last, (not to mention providing better quality acoustics).

Good luck!

I have a Cardiology III and I love it, love it, love it! It was recommended to me by the medics I work with and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
