First a quick thank you to the webteam for finally adding this section.

I know I asked for this awhile ago (not sure how many others did as well). The main reason I wanted to see this was because Industrial FFers needed a place to network and talk about various issues that differ from municipal ffing. I am both a muni and industrial ff and have not been able to find too much info, unless it was a company telling what they can do for me.

This section can also help the municipal ff in hazard/risk analysis, special precautions, etc. Hope good info gets passed thru here.

Again, thank you for the addition.

I am on an Emergency Response Team at the A/C industry that I work at. We don't do a whole lot of firefighting here. Mostly dumpsters and an occational dust-collector. Our main responsibility is Medical Responses even though we have been somewhat trained to do Hazwoper & Confined Space Rescue.

Don't know how much I could contribute in here, but I will be stopping by from time to time.

I will be checking here often as well.

I am also part of my company's ERT. Our response to fire are to grab the marshmellows and have a roast while we wait for the municipal FF.

Our primary purpose is medical response (EMT-B's) and HazMat (HazMat Specialist). We also have a strong search and rescue team, that thankfully has never been activated, though we train monthly on our ropes/tools and procedures.

I work as a Safety & Loss Prevention Shift Leader at Dow Corning, Carrollton, KY. We are the largest silicon manufacturing facility in the world. Our dept. is responsible for fire, ems, and security at our plant. We have 12 S&LP techs, 3 per shift, working a 2-2-3 swing rotation. We run with 2 engines, 1 hazmat truck, 1 KY certified BLS ambulance, 3 route trucks, 1 off-site hazmat response trailer, and 1 zodiac rescue boat. Our duties include but are not limited to emergency response, sprinkler system inspections and minor maintenance, fire extinguisher inspections (over 1200 on site), confined space entry pre-planning, confined space rescue, high and low angle rope rescue, hazard/risk assessments for a variety of jobs, and maintenance of our equipment. We have a fire training ground on site with 2 different sized burn pits and a trench fire simulator. In the smaller of the 2 pits we can burn propane or a 25/75% gas/diesel fuel mix. We also have a leak simulator where we can create many different leak scenarios such as flange/gasket leaks, pipe splits, etc. Outside our firehouse we have a two-story training tower with a tank built into the structure to be used for confined space rescue training and rope training.

I also work part-time for the Greendale Fire Department, Greendale, Indiana.

Hopefully we can all learn something from each other here.

Thanks to the web team for the space to do it!

I'm with a team up in Northern Alberta in an oil sands facility currently under construction. We aren't moving any product at this time, but I too will be watching this forum for ideas.

Hello to you all- I look forward to our correspondence.
