Hi
I have just passed my state (RI) exam and am now registered with NREMT. They said they mailed my results to me on Oct 18th. Still haven't gotten anything. The question I have is this. Do I have to apply with my state for a license or certificate? How do I get this? I need to show employers my EMT cert.
Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, NREMT only handles testing and are excellent for reciprocity to other states. You will need a certificate from your home state (RI) to practice. Procedures differe from state to state. In Ohio, every school that I have ever seen, send in the paperwork to the state to get the Cert processed after NREMT has finished thier work. You'll have to check with your own State agencies to see what you need to do next. You might be able to find out more by asking your co-workers, they've already been through it.

I am also a RI EMT. Once the NREMT has your paperwork, they send it back to the DOH, who then processes it, and you will receive a packet probably in a couple of weeks with all of your National paperwork (card, patch, etc.), as well as your RI license.
Congratulations and best of luck!
Where are you going to be working/practicing?
