Not sure where else to put this, but I am looking for a Medic school here in the DFW area.
I know about Methodist and TCC and Navarro, but they're all too far away for me to drive. I don't want to name the one here in my county, but I've heard lots of bad about it.
Does anyone know of any others?
I live just S. of Ft. Worth, btw.

If you live south of FTW, I'd say TCC. Their program is really in-depth and one of the top programs in the state.... Mehtodist is a good program as well, I have a buddy who is going through their program now. What city are you wanting to get on with?

Doesn't Hugley have a program? I know they used to. UT Southwestern has an excellent program and Metrocrest in Addison goes through Dallas County Community College on Midway Road now but they used to be good when I was up there. Or you can try Hill College in Hillsboro, I've heard they are decent.

TCC is really the best for anyone close to Ft. Worth (but it's an 18 month program). I've heard REALLY good things about the UT Southwestern program if you can make it out to Dallas and I'm pretty sure their's is a 9 month program. Brookhaven college in Irving also has a 9 month program, but I don't know much about it. I went through the Methodist program earlier this year, but I wouldn't recomend it. I'm not bitter towards it, but I just won't recomend it to anyone. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Is UT SW shift based? That would be awesome!

How long have you been in it? How is the program?

TCC-worth the drive, excellent program
Methodist/Careflite-not the usual program held at Methodist in Dallas but the new one at Johnson Co. Fire Training Facility in Cleburne (at least the plan was to start it this year). They've already completed a few EMT level courses and I know have some top notch instructors. I believe evening classes. Contact education dept. at www.careflite.org for more info.
Training Division-located outside Crowley, they too were planning to start a medic level class w/ course work completed online. Takes discipline this way but you do the work when able. Check them out at trainingdivision.com, I have heard great feedback from their fire training program.
I suspect I know the program in your county you mentioned, if my assumption is correct I would agree with you.
Best of luck to you.

Metrocrest is now run through Brookhaven College. Pretty good school and getting some good equipment. They're about to get a new building at the college deicated solely to EMS and nursing. Easy way to get Paramedic (easy as it can be anyway lol) and college hours...in fact you can get an associates degree in paramedicine.
