the way I usually cope with death is a sick sense of humor - joke about - but then again it depends on who's involved. If an older person who lived a full life - i deal with it as all part of life... When it's a child it may take several days and a debriefing from CISM member . Death is hard to take depending on their age, but if you keep doubting yourself on if you did right or second quest everytime someone dies if you did the right thing - then it's time to get out and take a break.... Everyone of us deals with it different.. we are the only ones that can sit at table and eat and talk about brains and guts and it not bother us but clear the tables of people sitting around our table... We are all human, it takes a special person to do what we do - if it didn't then there wouldn't be a shortage of EMT's - Paramedics - nurses - fire fighters - police officers...
