Does anybody know of a volunteer or paid on call fire department that is:
1) looking for new people, and
2) either near the near-west suburbs, or near the Champaign area?

It's okay if it's a bit of a drive, as long as the department is flexible with time--for example, if I could be available for calls only on certain days of the week.

I am an EMT-B currently. Volunteer vs. paid on call doesn't really matter to me, but full-time is not an option at this point.

If a department is willing to train me as a firefighter also, that is a plus.

Thanks,
LDL

What town are you in? West of Champ there is Cornbelt in Mahomet a little more west is Monticello fire and Mid-Piatt fire depts and Bondville fire . If that is to far west right near champaign is Savoy, Carrol, Edge-scott, and Eastern Praire fire depts. Just south of Champaign and Savoy is also Tolono. There are many options. But if you want training I would go talk to Savoy and Edge-scott fire depts I think they train every monday night at the fire service institute.

Check with Savoy. They have a great staff last time I checked. Great chief.
