AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) -- Two dozen bare-breasted porn stars paraded on motorcycles and military vehicles down the main street of New Zealand's biggest city on Wednesday after beating efforts by Auckland officials to prevent the promotional stunt.

Thousands of people, many of them clicking away with cell phone cameras, lined the street for the parade by male and female porn actors, most semi-clad in black leather, to publicize an erotica show which opens in Auckland later this week.

The crowd -- four deep in some places -- was reportedly bigger than that for the city's annual Santa Parade at Christmas time.

Organizer Steve Crow, a local multimillionaire porn movie distributor and producer, earlier had won approval for the parade from the city council, infuriating the conservative mayor and several councilors.

Mayor Dick Hubbard said he would review local bylaws in a bid to prevent any more topless parades in Auckland.

"We do want a vibrant city (but) I think the parade does our image harm rather than good," Hubbard said.

Zealand's biggest city on Wednesday as 25 topless porn stars
paraded on motor bikes and two old army tanks.
Businessmen, schoolboys and Japanese tourists lined
Auckland's Queen St to watch the "Boobs on Bikes" parade, which
went ahead despite the winter chill, a nippy wind and
objections by some city officials.
"It does nothing for our image, it does nothing for our
city and I just think it gives us indecent exposure around the
country and around the world," Auckland city councillor Scott
Milne told TV New Zealand.
"It's shabby and it's sleazy and we just don't need it."
The parade of leather-clad porn stars is part of an
"Erotica Expo" organised by self-styled "porn king" Steve Crow.
"You'll always have a vocal minority, you're always going
to have people who object to everything, be it religion or be
it adult entertainment," Crow said.
"If you don't like it don't come," he said.
Many of the curious onlookers came with cameras and mobile
telephones to take pictures of the parade. Others held aloft
banners which read "Sleaze Brings Disease in Body & Mind".
Most of the local and international porn stars rode pillion
on motor bikes during the 30-minute parade. One man clad only
in leather pants rode astride a decommissioned army tank.
"I don't know what all the fuss was about, to be honest,"
an unidentified male onlooker said.
Others debated whether the centrepieces of the parade were
real or surgically enhanced.
Police allowed the parade to go ahead because New Zealand
law does not regard the public baring of breasts as indecent.
There were no reports of arrests during the parade, which
briefly distracted about 4,000 local workers at a nearby trade
union protest.

In that I agree. I still want to move down under. My two trips down under were the best vacations I have ever had. New Zealand is a stunningly beautiful country. Australia is equally beautiful for its many contrasts from outback to rainforests. And of course we have the wonderful Kiwis and Aussies........

Sigh........ I need another vacation but I won't be able to afford to go back till 2008. :(

HHEHEHEEEEE. Well ya see its like this. I am a glorified "Financial Auditor" (read I don't have a lot to do during the day, except when it gets busy - whenever that is? LOL) so to stay awake I check the news. :)

As for "ought to watch (me) more", well thats the tough part cuz I'm so quiet in here, no one knows if I'm around or not. High Gas Prices? Aussie Hookers Offer Discount

SYDNEY, Australia -- Some Australian hookers are offering relief from high gas prices.

A legal brothel in the Sydney area is promising to help customers pay for their ride. The "house" in the western suburbs is advertising a discount of about 60 cents a gallon for customers who have gas station receipts.

Madam Kerry said high gas prices are hurting the sex trade. She said potential customers have less money to spend on her ladies.

Strippers Raise Money For Vegas Schools

LAS VEGAS -- Exotic dancers held a detention session with a difference at a Las Vegas strip club as part of a recent fundraiser.

The dancers, who were dressed as teachers, schoolgirls and librarians, took off their clothes to raise money for the cash-strapped Clark County School District. Scores Las Vegas raised $2,500 during the event.

District officials said they don't condone stripping for schools and noted that the money actually went to a nonprofit corporation that supports the school system.

The foundation said the strip club donation will be used to buy supplies and computers for Las Vegas teachers.

Town Opts To Leave Naked Teens Alone
Board Decides To Take No Action On Anti-Nudity Ordinance

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Mother Nature, not an ordinance, will draw the covers over public nudity in Brattleboro.

The town's Select Board decided Tuesday to take no action on an anti-nudity ordinance that was introduced in response to a clothing-optional movement launched by local teenagers this summer.

"Winter is coming. If spring comes and we still have a problem, we'll take another look at it," said Select Board Chairman Steve Steidle.

Vermont has no state law against public nudity, though at least eight communities have banned it locally.

Brattleboro, however, has long had a live-and-let-live culture. Its 12,000 residents have seen clothing-optional swimming holes, streakers, and even an event known as "Breast Fest," with women parading topless.

But the public nature of the latest movement -- naked teens smack in the heart of downtown -- raised eyebrows.

The stripping apparently started in early summer when a young woman sat naked on a park bench, said Police Chief John Martin. Then another woman took her shirt off downtown, a music festival inspired nude hula hoopers in a downtown parking lot, and in August a half dozen young people bared their bodies in a parking lot encircled by the backs of bookstores, coffee shops and restaurants.

One of the nudists, 19-year-old Adhi Palar, told the town board the issue was freedom.

"Our acting in nudity is an act of celebration of this history and traditional values as a place where you're allowed to be nude," he said. "I find that important, and I find that proud."

Not everyone agreed.

"I just think it's anarchy, because they won," said resident Theresa Toney, whose complaint about the public nudity prompted the debate. "It's inappropriate behavior for downtown. It has nothing to do with the weather. There's good behavior and there's bad behavior and that's bad behavior."

Town Manager Jerry Remillard said the town's image was tarnished by the uproar.

"We have been the brunt of phone calls from all over the world," Remillard said. "The media made this into nothing less than a circus.

Teens Say They Get Naked Because They Can

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Public nudity isn't new to this bastion of bohemia, but it usually bares itself in more subtle places than the downtown parking lot.

This summer, a group of teenagers has disrobed near restaurants, bookstores and the town's many galleries, igniting a debate about whether Brattleboro should ban a practice long tolerated until now.

"Brattleboro tends to be a laid-back town and pretty accepting of the unusual, but this is really pushing limits," said Police Chief John Martin. "It's clearly to outrage people, it's clearly rebelliousness."

By most accounts, the stripping started on a whim in early summer when a young woman sat naked on a park bench, Martin said. Then another woman started taking her shirt off downtown.

A music festival promoting nudity and rebelliousness set up in May in a downtown parking lot attracted nude hula hoopers.

Last month, a half dozen young people bared their bodies in a parking lot, encircled by the backs of bookstores, coffee shops and restaurants.

"It's just an act of freedom," said 19-year-old Adhi Palar. "We're just doing so because we can."

Palar said he and the others "do not consider nakedness to be innately sexual or rude and it shouldn't be confined to that."

All the bare skin has raised eyebrows, even in this town of 12,000 residents that has seen clothing-optional swimming holes, streakers and an event known as "Breast Fest," which featured women parading topless.

"To most people, it's not a big deal," said Catherine Kauffman, 57, who calls Brattleboro "a don't-take-away-too-many-of-my-rights kind of town."

At Everyone's Books, co-owner Rich Geidel, 50, said the parking lot may not be the most appropriate place for nudity, but "as long as people are polite, don't block the entrance, we don't ask them to leave."

To others, it's disturbing and something more than harmless rebellion.

"It's a bad image for Brattleboro," said Ozzie Kocaoglu, 43, who owns the Sundried Tomato restaurant at the far end of the parking lot, which has long been a teen hangout.

Vermont has no state laws against public nudity, but communities can write their own bans. At least eight cities and towns have anti-nudity ordinances, according to the Vermont League of Cities and Towns.

So far, Brattleboro has chosen not to join them, but the teenagers' dress-down may change that. Officials in the southeast Vermont town, about 80 miles west of Boston, are researching how other communities have responded.

Nudity has been used for social protest and rebelliousness for years. This summer, nude bicyclists rode through Burlington to protest the country's reliance on oil, part of an event known as the World Naked Bike Ride. PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has often used nudity as a shock tactic to draw attention to the treatment of animals in research and fashion.

The 50,000-member American Association for Nude Recreation espouses nude recreation in appropriate places, but doesn't use nudity "for social commentary, or rebelliousness or an act of civil disobedience," said Mary Jane Kolassa.

In Vermont, voters have shot down nudity bans before. Prompted by complaints about nudity and sexual activity at a swimming hole, the Wilmington select board passed an anti-nudity ordinance in 2002. But supporters of the freedom to skinny dip rejected the ban in a public vote.

"There were some ugly moments in the debate with some name calling and lots of good healthy debate about reasonable rights and responsibility under those rights," said Wilmington Town Clerk Susie Haughwout. Officials weren't sure how they would have enforced a ban and to what extent, she said.

For now Brattleboro is weighing its options, and waiting for summer to turn to fall.

"As soon as winter comes, there won't be a story anymore," said Town Clerk Annette Cappy.

Nude Dudes Popular With Some Seattle Commuters

WOODWAY, Wash. -- Some Seattle-area commuters are getting an eyeful of naked men on their way home from work.

Trains heading north from the city to Everett, Wash., pass a beach popular with male nude sunbathers.

Commuter Sarah Thompson said the brief glimpse of guys without their briefs is a plus for riding the train. Another commuter said the women line the windows to see the boys in the buff.

The beach that the train passes has been popular with gay men for decades. Local authorities said they usually let the sunbathers off with a warning instead of making arrests.
