Sounds like a good lecture...and a road-trip...and I hope you can excuse a Buckeye's lack knowledge of Illinois Fire Departments, but...Where exactly is the seminar? I see your location says a Chicago suburb, but...
Seriously, let me know the city and address of the lecture and I may come and bring a few friends.
Thanks for the post!

Chief Goldfeder is one of the fire services biggest supporters of safety. He host the website Firefighterclosecall.com. He also lectures at FDIC, and writes articles for Firehouse magazine and others. If you really want to be put on the edge of your seat, attend the a lecture. Read the attachment in my previous post.
Hey REMSCHIEF, Hometown where the lecture is going to be is located is a suburb of Chicago.

His radio show on FH.com are excellent.
I listen to him at work.
You had some of us worried, though.
Thought every one knew Chief Billy G.

cfd,
As you can tell from the nasty replies, you have offended the cult that faces Phoenix and prays five times a day.
If he was speaking around here. I would go- he does offer some good ideas.

You don't sense the attitude in these replies? "Well, OBVIOUSLY if you don't put on your reflective vest and hang on this guy's every word, there's something wrong with you! I hope you're new!"
Like I said before, I've been on his site and listened to his show, and it's OK. Go see the guy. Just hold off building the shrine until you form YOUR OWN opinion.

Just saw the thread, and was highly insulted by weruj1. I am also a FF in Cicero and we dont have our heads in the sand. Have been in dozens of fires with 349 cfd and he is an outstanding fireman. Not very cool to insult a department based on a simple question. If you wanr to knoe something about us before you throw out insults check out our web site.

I would also thank Clancyxdogg for defending my brother.

Who's insulting who?
Let's say we get this thread headed in the right direction, apologize for the little bit of ball busting that occurred and form a big circle of flatlander love?
I don't face Phoenix; I face the Windy City.

ok ok ..............I just found it strange that Cicero FF's must not get trade magazines. As Billy Gee is almost everyone of them. So for those that are "insulted" I certainly apologize. Now on with the thread.

Trust me, there are plenty of firefighters who have never heard of Goldfeder. Plenty of good firefighters at that. I have heard of him because of the internet and I am one to know about such things. You ask a typical Chicago-Area firefighter who Billy Goldfeder is and the answer would probably be "Who" ? It dosent make them bad firefighters. I am going to do a unscientific survey. Starting with my relief at 0700. It is now 0215 by the way and we havent been to bed yet. ;) ...Only 11 runs but it sure seems like more.

CR, speaking of Billy G, his newsletter referenced your interview with Chief Wessel. I'm glad too since I don't visit the Nation often and might not have gotten to read it. Thanks for taking the time and effort and sharing the story of Keokuk.

This a new technical term for trustees?
Happy New Year, CR.
It isn't new.
French trustees use it.
It is French slang for "meeting adjourned".
I am trying to "grow" my intellect.
Not having much luck, though.
Maybe if I water it...
You have a happy new year as well, Jack.

No, I do not know him. I reserved him last January for the 2009 conference and we have Dave Dodson for this weekend's conference along with Brian Vickers.

We are excited because this is the largest conference that I can remember. Right now, there are around 65-70 signed up for Dave's class. It is nice to get some speakers that are not from our immediate area to share their insight.
I will let you know how the class pans out.

by all means ..............also as far as Billy Gee goes ..........well thats some good ol fashioned sarcasm ,as I am excellent terms with him. I was hoping some of the others would chime in on that. Like I said Dobsons class TOP NOTCH............the delivery is what is not so good, content wise, it could probably save some FF lives if they pay attention.

I think I've been lucky enough to sit in on three of Dodson's classes and every time I learn something that I didn't catch the previous time. You know a class has something good to say when it fills the "big room" in Indy...
