I'll second that for 5.11. I just wish we could wear it for work.

What on earth are you jumping out of that you need jump pants...

What are you looking for in your pants? Cargo pockets? None? Flat front, pleats? BDU style or scrub style? Most programs have very specific requirements about what you can and can't wear on your clinicals. Remember, you're working with a professional staff (albeit one that wears pajamas and running shoes to work), so you need to look the part.

I personally wear Propper 911's for my squad work, and love them. The fact that they're our issue pants makes a difference too.

If your program is one that allows you to wear scrubs, just in the correct color, and if you're a guy, I swear by the Landau 8555's. These are the best scrub pants on the planet. They have a zipper. What more could you want?

Give me more info, and I'll try to help you out.

I'm a fan of Pro-Tuff pants. Heavy poly-cotton blend, very durable, and comfortable.

I would clarify with your program what is required. Most require "professional attire", and the jump pants may/may not qualify. As long as you don't show up in a wife-beater and cut offs, you should be acceptable.

Look for the pants with the most ammount of pockets and the greates cubic inches of cargo space available. There is always lots of additional equipment you will want to carry "just in case." A great refference list can be found posted by Mittlesmertz on the "What do you wear on your belt" thread on this site.

What equipment do you *really* need other than your hands, your head, a pair of scissors, and a penlight?

I can't see any program requiring "EMS" style pants for clinicals so just go and get yourself a couple pairs of 19.99 dickies in Blue and wait till you get on somewhere and then you will get issued uniforms

So you think the blue dickies with the double knee will work? my instructor is kind of vague on it, he says i can wear jump pants, dress pants, or BDU pants as long as they are black or blue and they aren't assless. (lol)

My school uniform was a polo shirt with the class and my name embroidered on it and BDU type pants. If they were blue or black with thigh cargo pockets, they qualified.
I'd had one pair of navy blue Blauer BDU pants that an officer on my old department gave me for a funeral procession we attended last year and they work great.
We wore the school unform on clinicals and most of us looked sharp when working, even if we made rookie mistakes that the perceptors are probably still laughing about.

As an instructor who helped set up our dress code for clinicals of all kinds I find its better to follow whatever you find most comfortable but in compliance with the dress code. Ours was strict but flexible enough to allow for professional looking and comfortable attire.
Blue pants of any style ie:protuffs, dickie, bdu's. As long as they weren't jeans.
Shirt was the polo shirt that the entire class purchased. Name and level you were trying to attain with intern behind it. By the way we got group rates on shirts never more then 15 bucks unless bigger sizes.
Black belt, black BOOTS, (a must for ambulance clinicals).
These are still in effect today and have been for several years. :)

I have 4 pairs of Spiewak EMS pants. One service I work for requires blue and the other black. They have held up extremely well. I also have a pair of Pro-Tuff that have held up well too. I'm in them 24 hours at a time and both brands wash and wear pretty well.

That being said, you need to get what suits YOUR needs best.

If you gotta use BDU style then go with the Army surplus store ones. Main thing is you don't need to lay out 60.00 a pr when you don't even know what you will wear when you get on the road. By me the companies wear 2 or 3 different styles of blue pants, black pants, green pants and even one used to wear all brown
