Sounds like this person has many of the usual qualifications but the question I have is does he or she know how to take a FIRE department interview.

Like I have always said, getting hired is not about putting more "stuff" on your resume than the next guy rather coming across on an interview as the person we want to have on our crew.

How many people do you know who have been hired full time who possess less qualifications than yourself? It happens every single day. The difference is that these people learned how to take a FIRE department interview, or learned about the department's hiring process.

Whatever the case, once a candidate comes to learn that we do not weigh candidate's resumes against each other and pick the heaviest one he or she will put their efforts in the right place. Until then they just compare resumes and don't understand why everyone around them gets hired.
