For those of you that took it last year, I have some questions about it:

Did they hold a practice day so you could run through it before you took it?
Is the stair climb up to the 5th or 6th floor (their website isn't too clear - it says to the top of 5 floors but the photo is a 6 floor tower)?
How many weeks passed between the written and the practice day and test day?

TIA for your help. This should help me prepare for taking off from work around those times.

I took the test last year and, without any extra points, placed in the top 50. Still, I got burned out of the process. The weirdest thing ever, because they hired 20+ for the first class and then through the rest of the top 75 out of the process and picked up #76-150 to process for the second class. They didn't even give a clear-cut reason, but...

All in all it was a pretty organized process throughout. Not sure how many weeks it spanned, but it seems like 3 months for all processing. Word of advice: It's my experience that a white male must test more than once with FWFD to get hired... I have 4 guys that I know that got washed the first time they tested even though they were WELL within the hiring range, but the next time they tested and tested high enough, they got picked up. what is their test like in comparison to others like dallas, SA, Austin, Houston. lots of reading comp, people oriented questions, inductive deductive reasoning.....etc. any help, i'm taking it this next time around.

Your basic "SAT" type test, with reading comp, math, grammer, etc... ; the big difference was at the very end of the test the last 50 questions or so, are similar to Austin's psych test... agree, neutral, disagree. All in all, it wasn't a hard test, but you have to score really well AND draw a good lotto number to have a shot... especially this year. Might me a good idea to get a couple buddies, who have no intention of going to FWFD, to fill out the short entrance application, go take the test, and let you take the lowest of the lotto numbers drawn between the group... just a thought! No preperation really... the one tip I learned from a "study guide" was to be decisive... don't answer "sometimes" or "rarely"... either agree or disagree
