I'm in Provo and am at a meeting close to Station 1. I drove past and noticed, NO FIRE TRUCKS! Obviously they are remodeling, but where is everyone being housed at? When is the expected time frame of construction?

Actually they have pretty much moved out of Station one. The only rig left thier is a Rescue. Other City Services is moving into the building after the reconstruction.

Are they downsizing or have they built a new fire station?

Expanding actually, they built Station #5 and relocated the districts for better fast Response times.

That is good. How does that affect thier staffing?
How is Orem staffing? Someplace I know even less about. How many stations do you guys have thier? The only one I know of (or remember) is the one there on I-15 just north of UVSC. Are you a PSO or just Firefighter? How often does OFD test?
Thanks!

That is good. How does that affect thier staffing?Well they hired a whole bunch of people a couple of years ago to accommidate the new Station.
How is Orem staffing? Someplace I know even less about. Oh Orem has a daily staffing minimum of 15 to cover 3 Stattions currently. Usually we have 2 Paramedic/Firefighters on the Rescues and 2-3 Firefighters Officers on the engines.
How many stations do you guys have thier? The only one I know of (or remember) is the one there on I-15 just north of UVSCWe have 3 Stations and are currently Renovating Station #1, which is over by University Mall. Station #2 is off 8th North behind Maceys. That Station is getting Renovated Next year.
Station #3 is the one your seeing off the freeway. IT is 10 years old now and we just finished the Basement Training room and Temporary Houseing for the other Stations to use during thier renovations.
Station #4 Property has been purchased and is off Univrsity and Geneva Roads where there is tremendous growth for the dollege Students. After the two other Stations are finished beeing renovated then we will build this station and hire the staff to accommidate it. Still 3 years out at least.
Are you a PSO or just Firefighter? How often does OFD test? I am JUST a Firefighter, I might be going to Post in the near future. We are really just a regular Fire Department, Dont let the Public Safety thing scare you. As time goes by it is just kinda going away and us FD and the police are really two seperate intities.
We seem to be aways testing every couple of months due to a large number of retirements. We just tested two weeks ago and will be hiring at least 2 people from this test.

Every couple of months? How do I get in on that? I've been out of the testing circuit for the last few years and have lost touch with all my old lists of who tests when? Do you have to be a paramedic? Obviously it helps, but HAVE to be and HELPS are two different things.
I've applied to BYU-I medic school and hope to be accepted into the next class (January 2007). Does OFD have living restrictions?
Thanks man!

Well you can go to www.orem.org and put an interest card and when they open up they will let you know about it or you can sign up to one of those Firejob service sites like firerecruit.com of firecarreers.com
Do you have to be a paramedic? Obviously it helps, but HAVE to be and HELPS are two different things.
Well sometimes you ahve to be by the time testing starts and like this last time, a couple of weeks ago they let students whom were not paramedics but in class test for the job as well.
Does OFD have living restrictions?Nope we have people that live in Vernal come on out and people whom live in Mt Pleaseant commute on in. I myself live in the Park City area.
Well good luck with this and BTW I thought you were already with someone here in Utah. Like Weber County or something like that. :D

I don't see the spot on there to submit an interest card.
Thanks!
