FDNY Response?

Does anyone know what the standard FDNY response is to a house fire? Apparatus and manning of said apparatus...

We call houses private dwellings here. And for a report of fire you get

2 Engine and 2 Trucks. A 10-14 Engine is assigned as well, so thats 3 and 2 and the Battalion Chief.

For numerous calls or the 10-75 transmitted, that brings an additional Engine a Rescue Co. , Squad Company, and a FAST Truck, another BC and the Division Chief.

All Hands is a Total of 4 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 FAST Truck, 1 Rescue Co, 1 Squad Co. And the RAC

Total FFs....

Engines....(exclude ECCs) 16 to 20 (depending on staffing of the Engines)
Trucks...12
FAST...6
Rescue...6
Squad...6
2 Bn Chiefs
1 Division Chief
3 Chiefs Aides
RAC 1 FF

A chief can ask for additional Engines and Trucks w/o going to a second alarm if he needs them (up to a second alarm assignment), usually they ask for 1 additional Engine and 1 additional Truck. It depends on the area, situation, and the Chief. Chiefs have a lot of latitude on what they can do.

Basically:

10-75
4 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Rescue, 1 Squad,
1 FAST Truck , 2 Battalion Chiefs and 1 Division Chief.

10-76 Working Fire in a High-Rise Office Building

5 Engines, 5 Trucks, 4 Battalion Chiefs, 1 Deputy Chief,
1 Rescue, Mask Service Unit, Hi-Rise Unit,
Field Communications Unit, 1 Squad, 1 Tactical Support
Unit, 1 Rehab (RAC) Unit, Rescue Operations Chief,
Safety Chief, Safety Coordinating Chief, 1 Command

If a unit gives the 10-75 (working fire) code here are the units assigned:

4 Engines- (Each with 4 to 5 firefighters and an officer)
2 Trucks- (6 Members)
Rescue- (6)
Squad- (6)
FAST Truck- (6)
2 Battalion Chiefs

I think that is correct, if I am wrong, I apologize. There are also other variations, such as a hi-rise residential or commercial building fire. Plus, if the chief uses "all hands" at a job a few more units are assigned or if a second or third alarm (and so on) is transmitted, a host of additional special units are assigned along with the additional engines and trucks.

Squad, Shmad.......they get the ole' 10-2 when they try to come into our part of the Bronx......I get a kick out of hearing, "10-75, hold all the special units......" :eek: :D
