sounds like from what i have read here in posts is that you will have plenty of time in houston. i also think that poeple said to pack plenty light as like one bag and one carry on. i plan on taking a big back pack that and save some room for my carry on will fit in it when we get in country because you will be issued NBC gear, a flack, helmet, and a sleeping bag that will fit in a bag. that way you will have a back pack and a carry type bag.

As for what i am taking for clothes is five pair bdu tee shirts one pair boots grey zippered sweat shirt boonie hat shorts and shoes for pt. two sets of civies, or more so that i can send home when i leave houston. thats where the room for my carry on will come from. small flash, light, multi-tool, knife, laptop, mp3 player, books, watch, and pleaty to read.

havnt heard for sure someone emailed me and said they talk to wsi and they would not look at our stuff untill after the first as we were not leaving until 15 th.
they also said that if you didnt here from them, that was a good thing.
sounds like you should get a iten a week before and tickets the wed before, again this is what i have read in these posts.

I'm suppost to leave on may 22, as it seems that a few others are to. I dont think I will be buying anything before i go to Houston . I think I'm just bring my laptop even though when i did my over the phone interview they said that wsi doesn't recom. it but after reading the other forums i'm not spending another 800 to 1000 for 1 more laptop. I will be in tx with just 2 pair of civs. When i went to in army they recom. bring a list of sh#t that i just threw away before basic.

I'm leaving may 22 also. I am going to pack several pairs of boxers and socks in a backpack. I am also going to pack tooth brush and paste and deodorant. Sorta anal about trying to smell good (which is gonna change once I get to the box). Gonna suck doing laundry all week with the 2 civis I have. Can't have too many pairs of chones and socks!!! I'll have the rest of my chones, socks, wife-beaters, etc... shipped over to me. I received a great piece of advice, not sure if its new or not but sure excited the heL1 out of me. Pack everything you want shipped over to you ,before you leave, using the "numbered box" method. Number the boxes and make a list of everything in the numbered boxes. Tell your loved one once you get to the box to send box one, two, three, so on and so forth. I'm sure this idea has already been mentioned SEVERAL times, but hey, its a good idea. Time is going by so fast. I just want to hurry and get this done!!

I hear you. Time is going by way to fast. I'm trying to get the whole money thing right I didn't plan on leaving as soon as this. But o well. My sister is going to pay my bills while I'm gone. Work is giving me a leave for a year. I'm not sure if I should just order the bdu's and boot or just wait. So many thing to do.

I think on June 12th the only fire fighters will be from North Carolina and more specifically Eastern North Carolina. I'm leaving for Virginia today, maybe tomorrow since I was at a training burn all night. Then wait a week and it's off to Houston.
