Only found quotes with his name under it. My theory is that some of it was a paraphrase of something he said, and folks have added to it and tweaked it along the way.

Although I don't have the audacity to call myself a "Deadhead", I have had the pleasure of seeing the Greatful Dead live in concert. I believe it was 1985 but I could be out by a year. I was invited by some true Deadheads from Portland to join them on their annual pilgrimage to Oakland to see what I describe as one of the greatest(arguably the greatest) live performing bands of all time. Those who have attended a Greatful Dead concert will know what I mean.
I consider that Greatful Dead concert the 3rd greatest live performance I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Eclipsed only by The Who in Edmonton in 1972 (on or about) and any one of many Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concerts. Again only those who have seen Nitty Gritty live will appreciate what I meen.
