How is getting a job out that way? I have my IL paramedic license and plan on taking the national real soon. What else does California require? Are they any 911 contract companies? I'd rather stay away from the privates if I could, been there done that.

Go to NorCal, it is much nicer. SoCal sucks ;) . (before everyone bites my head off, I am from "the LBC", so I am entitled to have an opinion).

If you've got your paramedic license, there's a ton of FDs in NorCal that would love to hire you. There appears to be a medic shortage.

lafd is a good dept., and busy. SFFD is good also, tried to get on years ago, but lived out of town and tried using my sisters SF address, but no dice. If you are a medic, it is a big help anywhere in CA.
