How many companies in NYC?

does anyone know just how many fire companys there are in the FDNY all together. Including staten island, long island and such..

Long Island is not part of the FDNY. Long Island are all vollies.

Also you can do a search on google or yahoo for the updated numbers. Manhattan now has two Rescue Companies and I think there has been at least on other squad added to Brooklyn.

Rescue 6 was only in operation for the Republican National Convention in 04 and was disbanded shortly afterwards. There are 7 Squads total, 1, 18, 41, 61, 252, 270, and 288.


As for the "340 places to get hired", thats not how it works. You get hired as a FF within the FDNY, and after the academy you are assigned a company.
