There was a book that one of the guys in my class bought at barnes and nobles to help study for the NR exam. I don't remember the name but the cover was green, it costed $50 and had a CD in it. He passed around the CD to everyone in class. This is what I used to study for the exam and it helped alot. There were some of the questions on the exam but worded differently.

Find a book that teaches you how to read and evaluate multiple choice questions. A god understanding of the test format and skills used to evaluate the answers and chose the best will help a lot.

Good point Montet202.. I have successfully passed multiple choice tests before when i had no idea about the material itself. Just used logical patterns and elimination tactics. :)

I have used several of the commercial study guides and found them to be almost identical with the exception that some include a CD to practice the test on a computer. If you have friends/classmates who are in the same boat, why not each buy a different study guide and pass them around. Keep doing all of the practice tests you can get your hands on. The answers you missed, go to your book and read the section to understand why your answer was incorrect. Not only will this help you understand the test material, but it will give you practice in figuring out what the question is really asking. Keep doing the practice tests until you get all questions correct. Most important, don't get discouraged. Good Luck!

There are a couple of methods that may help you:
1) Use the process of elimination when taking a multiple choice test. And when you choose an answer, know why you chose it.
2) The key to passing the NREMT is know the themes. For instance, anytime the question states that a patients breathing is anything but normal, you always assist via BVM, no questions asked.
Themes like this are constant throughout the exam. Many of the questions are the same, just within different scenarios.
3) You can use this site http://nremtexam.com/ which you can practice and learn the themes to the exam. It is good because it tells you where you are lacking.
Good Luck!

Read your book, and relax when you take the test.

I'll echo what people above already said... you *need* to know your material. Go through your notes and make sure you have re-read the parts of your book that you had trouble with before... completely read the chapters that cover the material you're having trouble with, you'll be amazed at what you pick up vs just skimming through it again.
That being said, the test is it's own animal and it's worth practicing testing. The best studying I did was to take 4 simulated Nat Registry exams... I'm pretty sure the test book I used was "PARAMEDIC EXAM 2E" (can't remember, and I lent it to someone so I don't have it front of me). There are four tests that are in that weird Nat Registry style, and the answers explain why they're the correct answer... if you take all four of them by the time you sit down to the real thing a lot of the stress will be gone b-c everything will seem very, very familiar.
Good luck.

This is NREMT right???
I think it is more a deal of getting a "good test" or a "bad test".
I failed Cardiology, and the test, by ONE QUESTION. Problem is that there were four strips on the test and every one of them was crappy.
The Three leads looked like they had been laminated or taped before copying because they were "fuzzy" and had a "glare" on them so you could hardly read them.
The ONE twelve lead strip looked as if it had been wadded in a pocket for two weeks and run through a washing machine. TOTALLY illegible.
Noted this "on the envelope" as instructed AND showed it to the proctor.
But, NREMT has to have it's income I guess so I retook and passed the next time.
